Participant
Excellent posts Diego… Yeah I had not even considered building on it, that is a whole can of worms and I am not sure I would ever do it… Maybe a deck or something but not anything that is bigtime structural.
I like pools alot… as long as they are at someone elses home!
Agree totally on someone else’s home.
I would imagine it could be made into a proper building pad if you did proper compaction in 8″ lifts, etc… but that would add to the costs.UCGal

Participantplease, please, please….
BG, sdr…. back away to your respective corners. In the immortal words of Rodney King
“Can’t we all just get along?”It’s clear you guys don’t like each other or have respect for each other. And both of you have posted stuff that was useful, and other stuff that was more opinion that fact. Why don’t you both take a deep breathe and try not to engage with each other anymore.
Calling each other names is silly and sophmoric. Unless it’s sddduude calling flu a “virtual asian”. Then it’s sophmoric and funny.

ParticipantOur house used to have a pool. My dad took it out after the last of the free pool cleaning labor went to college, 30+ years ago.
He had a permit and did it as described by AN.
Unfortunately, the tax rolls must still show us with a pool – because we constantly get mailings on pool services and supplies. LOL.But I like not having a pool.

ParticipantIf soils are a concern the city typically has soils tests from when the house was first built.
I know we were able to get the original soils report from our 60’s house.
You may not need to do a full geotechnical survey.
