Wow. This turned into a really interesting thread despite my whining. For the record, I didn’t choose to live in San Diego. My parents did. WWII vets, they met when they were in college on the GI bill and my mom wouldn’t marry my dad until he promised they would live in San Diego (where my mom had been stationed). She had just had enough of the crappiest weather on earth. I have always lived here except for my college years and a few years after that.
I often muse about living elsewhere because San Diego has changed so much. These days, you have to plan everything around the traffic, but that’s true in L.A. and S.F., too. At any rate, we aren’t gonna move till my father (who is ancient, obviously) dies. I think I will be happier when we retire, don’t have to commute, and can get anywhere we need to go via a golf cart.

TuVuParticipantEnorah–
Thanks for the good thoughts. I know this isn’t oprah.com, but I feel them, I tend to get blue at this time every year beause for all my life September — not January — has been the “start” of
the new year. Back to school. Then I have a kid whose b-day is August 25th. Yep, on Monday she’ll no longer be a teen. She’s now a college junior, The hubby and I are not moving. That may change in two years when the kid has to go to grad school in Portland, OR. Who knows what is gonna happen. Thank again.TuVuParticipantEnorah–

I had tried to go out in the backyard to do some work and almost fainted because of the heat (I think we are about 12 miles inland). I long for a cooler, cloudier climate such as S.F. or Seattle has, but I have never lived with day after day of it. I believe living in S.F. is like living in Pacific Beach…not for the middle-aged or older. Again, thanks. Yes, I am a major wuss :).
