God, I went on vacation and completely forgot which condo I was talking about. I typically look for condos in the coastal area, so chances are yes. It was priced ridiculously low.
Trojan4LifeParticipantThey are robbing those banks because that is where the money is at.
September 26, 2011 at 12:42 PM in reply to: Solar Energy, what is the actual cost and how long will it take to recoupe cost #729795Trojan4LifeParticipantI haven’t read all of the replies to the original posting, but we own a home with a pool and live in RB. Not exactly coastal, not inland…kinda “Coasland” (I may copyright that phrase). Anyway, inground pool, 2 kids, 5 TV’s, laptops, iPads, etc. We’re gone a lot due to sports, don’t use A/C because it really doesn’t get that hot here. Our SDGE bill averaged about $180 per month for the past year. Wife looked into rates at different times of the day etc, so we changed our pool filter run time to start after 6pm (solar heat pumps for pool still run at 2pm).
Last 2 months SDG&E bills were $83 and $97 respectively for July and August.
It’s possible to keep that bill low, even without Solar.
September 13, 2011 at 9:37 AM in reply to: When Mello Roos matters . . . your kids get first priority in schools over non-Mello Roos payers #728918Trojan4LifeParticipant4Sbuyer2002 is correct, and the PUSD School Board legally did the right thing last night by standing by their recently poorly communicated decision to adjust boundaries for Monterey Ridge, Oak Valley, and Del Norte to exclude non-Mello Roos adjacent communities of Bernardo Point (SFRs) and The Summit (condos). Legally, they had to. Morally and ethically, it was a poor decision.
Common sense says to let these handful of children attend the schools closest to them when the alternative is a dangerous commute through Camino Del Norte to Bernardo Height and RB High. Although the district superintendent assured those with kids in MRES, OVMS, and DNHS that they would get priority in regards to intradistrict transfers, there is no alternative for future generations of homeowners who choose to buy in Bernardo Point in the future.
The troubling thing about communities like 4S is a “we paid for it and we don’t want you to use it” attitude by the HOAs. Liberty Park, for instance, is now gated and a pass key is required to gain entrance. What kind of a community does that promote?

Trojan4LifeParticipantProbably not the solution you are looking for, but I got a demo of their new flat panel tv with built in “surround sound.” I don’t think it’s quite as good a piece of equipment as I would expect from Bose, but it would do the job.
