ParticipantBack to the original question (Gold what could cause it to go down)
I see two possibilities IMO.
1) Recession in Asia (that includes India).
2) Stronger USA Dollar.
Anyway just my opinion.

ParticipantSeriously I did not vote for Trump, but there was a lot of BS being slung and Gullibility on both sides.
If the Dem’s had run a honest election and nominated Sanders they would have won.Right now those who want the status quo to continue are in the biggest fight of their lives (same reason the Dem’s would not allow Sanders).

Personally, I think that Russia has something on Trump. He will cave to them and Assad will remain in power to create the Shia crescent, and that means caving to Iran also.
IMO it is and unfortunate “inconvenient truth” that the only way you get Assad out is go to war with Russia as well.
It is a lost cause IMO and prolonging it just causes more suffering and problems that get exported elsewhere.

Participant
I had to go to L.A. today, albeit it was raining but it took me 3 hours and 45 minutes to go 65 miles.

If I remember right you were about to retire soon TG.The good thing about being retired is you are generally in no rush to go anywhere and you can mostly choose to drive not in rush hours. the biggest issue my mother has with crowds and traffic is when she goes to Costco.

ParticipantWell when the company I work for closed down the San Diego office and offered to move the people there to the East coast Office (where the main headquarters for that devision is), No one took the offer (choosing to be laid off instead).
I am not sure where they all ended up but they did not take the offer to move.

ParticipantThe NFL has been struggling lately (too much stuff to do on the interweb LOL).
Anyway if you live in far north county the drive is about the same either way.

ParticipantSay what you want but if you really really want to stop nuclear proliferation and nuclear materials from getting into the wrong hands, there is only one ally you absolutely must have.
But if that were to happen then we might not get into another nuclear arms race and that might piss someone off.
Just saying

ParticipantUnlike many states when a company moves out of state it usually generates new Jobs and Businesses as the people don’t leave for the most part and start new biz here.

ParticipantHard to find a small town in SoCal LOL.
They grow into what most states call large Cities very fast.

ParticipantI remember back in the 80’s (well some time back anyway),
Used worn out Jeans were sold in clothing boutiques at ridiculously high prices.
Maybe all my worn out Costco Jeans that I keep in a pile will be worth something some day LOL.

ParticipantOK I guess we will need to wait 4 years.

ParticipantI think just based on demographics and the laws already passed to raise minimum wage 50% in most western states over the next 5-6 years, that the economy will be
(or would be) booming irregardless of who is in office.Inflation will go up about 20% over that time frame as well IMO.
Most likely who ever is (or would have been in office) will get a free ride out of that.
Anyway IMO, not positive or negative on Trump.
