The more likely scenario is FIRST, California being split apart then the nation splitting itself apart with no USA as we now know it existing.
What state of the former union will you stake your future and that of your family in?
Well since I don’t really have a political bone in my body (seriously other than economic implications I don’t give a C##P about any of the hot point issues), and I am fairly conservative in my own life choices (I really don’t care what anyone else does), and mostly since I do not want to move.
I think it will be called “New California” (mostly because I think where I am currently living will be called that in 20-30 years from now).

I don’t know what is worse. the administration we have now, or the future a lot of us will have once the GOP is virtually non existence and you have 1 party dominate everything…..
The more likely scenario is FIRST, California being split apart then the nation splitting itself apart with no USA as we now know it existing.

don’t know. the way I figure. I have money now to live and enjoy a reasonable life. rest goes to the future for kid and etc. long term maybe another 10-20years?
by then this country will have fully embraced socialism….good time to move money out of the country probably. I am kidding….. sort of.
This is where those trillion dollar coins come in handy LOL.
Seriously in twenty years I hope our robot overlords will be more like wall-e than terminator LOL.
Inflation anyone?

ParticipantI don’t know, people who bought long term treasures or 13% CD’s back in the late 80’s did fairly well.
If I could get 5% FDIC CD’s like I could in 2005 I think I would be happy (well for a while).

ParticipantI think there is even more of a chance that California will not exist in its present form in 25 years.
Even if the USA does not split itself apart California likely will.

ParticipantI am mostly out of the market but I still think having the market and the economy doing well would work best for me (and the majority of the country).
IMO having a downturn is really only good for a small segment of the population and may even further the divide that is tearing the country apart.
I really think there is a chance the USA will not exist in its present form in 25 years.

ParticipantAutonomous vehicles will likely kill most Public transport as we currently know it.
Will autonomous vehicles kill commuter trains, high speed rail and planes for regional travel?
Yes IMO.

ParticipantThe problem with putting very large companies in Urban settings instead of corporate campuses is it makes it very expensive and disruptive to scale up when you need to.
Myself I would not want to work in anything over two or three floors (or where you need an elevator to get from one place to another within the company).
IMO trying put everything in one spot is a bad idea in general. I don’t know why anyone is trying to revive it.

ParticipantLOL I am still waiting for 5% FDIC CD’s to make a comeback.
I am mostly out of the market just because of my age.
The decline so far is interesting but not enough to get me excited yet and I don’t really think the market will sell off enough to get me back in.
(The economy I think is still doing fairly well yet).
Dow down 40-50% maybe I could get excited to put more money in (even despite my age).

The Costco on Scripps Poway Parkway is shockingly uncrowded.
I wish I lived close to that one LOL, The one in San Marcos is somewhat less crowded than Carlsbad’s, Temecula’s is always a complete mad house all the time.

What are the demographics you see at Costco? I don’t see many young people.
Me I see mostly young families (Big – as in at least 3 kids in tow).
Not too many single people shop at Costco I think (at least I never see them).
I think as more Millenials have families places like Costco will appeal to them more.
I think it comes down to perspective, If you have a family you like places like Costco, if you are young and single you shop and pay for convenience.
“Amazon holds the order for days to induce you to buy Prime.” “or pay for shipping”
Yes I see a lot of online retailers doing that not just Amazon.January 24, 2018 at 7:00 AM in reply to: Will millenials kill Costco? And The rise of Amazon. #809109The-Shoveler
ParticipantEvery Costco I go to is completely packed with people filling their carts to the brim every time.
Parking lots are very large and very hard to find an empty spot.
They don’t carry everything but what they do carry is generally of good quality and it is very hard to beat them on price.
I really like Costco myself but sometimes Walmart has good stuff as well, personally I have had bad experiences buying off Amazon.
IMO never buy Auto parts off Amazon. Go to a major autoparts store (well with the exception of name brand stuff like spark plugs etc.., you can get these much cheaper online “but I never buy even these off amazon, online stores like SparkPlugs.com have much better prices and service”)
