ParticipantDumb money does not mean your dumb, it just means your a retail investor.
Smart money just means professional fund managers/agencies/brokers/banks etc…
IMO we are still a long way from 2004-7 as far as mortgages.

ParticipantIMO the main difference is Dumb money is sitting this one out.
And interest rates are at historic lows and falling.
Plus no one seems interested in taking the punch bowl away.The-Shoveler
ParticipantOK interesting, corporate buybacks bailing out smart money.
Anyway there never seems to be a really steep decline until dumb money goes all in.

Participant
Wall street would love to propel the market higher when so much retail investor money has sidelined.
LOL That’s my other theory, what happens if dumb money does not show up to bale out the smart money.

ParticipantIMO nowadays there are so many pension funds public and private dependent on the market, they (the fed etc..) will do almost anything to keep the market from a steep decline.
But I am lousy at the market so maybe flu is the most correct.
Or maybe just wait for E. Warren to get elected LOL.
OK Just kidding sort of.The-Shoveler
ParticipantIMO Goats are incredible machines as well,
They turn unwanted vegetation into milk and meat.
Before there were cows there were Buffalo so I am not sure we (people) are changing the equation on that front.

ParticipantConfirmation mostly that I was on the right path.
+ entertainment and a nugget of knowledge here and there.
Still slightly addicted to this site after all these years.

ParticipantI just mean (by run over) is, you are not going to save the planet by self sacrifice and it is mostly a useless gesture.
You need to do some real engineering if you want to solve this.
The-Shoveler
ParticipantAll that meat would need to be replaced by some other food source and it would have some cost on the environment as well.
Anyway you are just going to get run over by the developing world nations.

If we are going to get serious at some point we will need to do GEO engineering.
It won’t stop container ships either.

ParticipantIMO eating less food has more of an effect on aging than being a strict vegetarian.
If you are a strict vegetarian (or vegan) you probably need to supplement with Carnosine or bata alanine but may be you would not be a strict vegetarian at that point.
The-Shoveler
ParticipantIMO that is suspect
“The actual causal relationship between becoming vegetarian and living longer is unclear, and is certainly smaller than the correlation might seem to suggest.”
So it goes with vegetarianism and longevity. It’s absolutely true that vegetarians live longer (at least among Seventh Day Adventists, the target group of the study). In fact, in this study, vegetarians live six to nine years longer, which is a huge effect. But vegetarians are also more likely to exercise, be married, smoke less and drink less alcohol—all factors that also contribute to a longer life. The actual causal relationship between becoming vegetarian and living longer is unclear, and is certainly smaller than the correlation might seem to suggest.

ParticipantAll this self sacrifice although maybe admirable are fairly useless.
“One cargo or freighter ship puts out as much pollution as 15 million cars”
At some point if we are going to get serious we will need to start GEO engineering.
Having fewer kids just means we will get run over by the developing worlds population (by Billions over the next 50 years).
The-Shoveler
ParticipantJust looking at the demographics, it could keep going another 3-5 years IMO.

ParticipantDelete, too off topic
