Or let me put it another way, I bought a 3500 SF Track Home for a little less than 300K in 2002 in Temecula, Had a Deck off the Master, a nice court yard, even a OK sunset view.
Which I thought was a reasonable deal

I am looking to up grade when an if the Housing market crashes. But, there is no way in hell I am going to pay 800K (+ the Tax and High HOA) for a Track home. (unless I am on the water of course).

Can’t see why anyone else would or how normal people can come close to really affording (20% down 30-year fixed) 800K anyway.

I think if you are willing to drive I think there are a lot of places to rent (cheap) , I see signs all the time on the local roads in Temcula Valley area, (If you can’t sell , I guess rent for what you can). Can’t see anyone not being negative on the mortgage this way though.

I mean look at LEN or CTX up over two, I don’t think anyone is saying housing is going to shoot to the moon anytime soon.

I mean who is going to buy the track home from you for 900K that you bought for 750K last week.

Odd the timing of that change. Seems old Greenspan was looking after the banks same as when you could get a 4% mortgage and Greenspan was saying you should get a ARM, never forget that one .

I have been out of the market sense January, the Stock or should I say index “QQQQ” I was mostly invested in was 41 when I sold it, been below that point most of the year, made more money in a CD than most stocks have done, will stay on the side , who knows maybe I will get brave and short the qqqq’s if it continues to run into October. I will not invest in individual stocks long or short, too hard to play against the house (the stock brokers in NY).

I Kind of think of the stock market like the housing market, best to sit on the side for now.

Just seems crazy to me this run up today, Don’t think anything has changed, Maybe some type of market manipulation to get a lot of dumb money to buy in (hey look maybe housing set to take off again hon, we should buy that 800K nothing special home on a 1/8 acre or that fixer-upper for 600k).

Sorry for venting, I love my wife dearly but sometimes she wants perfection or something I can’t really define or I guess it’s just a way for her to vent about something she can’t define.

Anyway I think once the market drops 30 – 50% (Somewhere near begining 2003 prices) she will be happier with me.

Yea I got out in December 2004, Wife still nag’s me that we maybe could have got another 50 to 100 K if we waited another 6-8 months, I can’t believe it We did better than 80% of most people and I am to blame that we only held our second house three years (when I had to ask myself daily Why am I still holding it I should sell before it drops, it already paid for the new house and then some),

I guess I am a dumb ass jerk as always.
