Participant

Inflation will make your 401K feel like a 10K and your pension a pittance,
So you should do nothing? Save nothing?
No, you should invest in yourself and other hard assets, you should invest in your 401K (but when you start to get older reduce your exposure to stocks as you never know when the WSB (WallStreetBastards) will pull the rug).
And if they (WSB) can find a way to rob you they will.
Also living while your young (really when you get too OLD you can’t climb to the top of the buddha).
Have our own Biz if you can.

Participant

You can only mask Inflation by using Cheap imported stuff (not assets) to measure for so long.
Then you realize your way behind the curve,
Why is that? Is the cheap imported stuff going to run out? Is an iPhone not an asset? Is a cow? A bushel of wheat?
The problem is not importing too much stuff. The problem is not exporting enough stuff.
All the more reason to cheapen you currency LOL.
because eventually real assets become so expensive you cannot afford to live.
OER and not tying minimum wage to inflation of assets, is what is really causing the middle class to disappear.

ParticipantActually the last bubble/burst was caused by the same cause as the one that occurred in the late 80’s early 90’s
OER
Owners Equivalent Rent
And it will be the cause of the next one as well.

ParticipantWell it may not have much effect on higher end places like CV etc…
But there are a lot of defense contractors who will feel it.
I actually don’t think it will have any effect on active duty, in fact the opposite may be true as I think they will eventually consolidate and there are no plans to get rid of Camp pen (but really eventually this would be a boon for all SoCal if they did).The-Shoveler
ParticipantKeeping healthy saves a lot; usually you don’t end up spending a lot of time in the hospital,
But I have noticed they usually don’t live that much longer than the out of shape types, they just tend not to have long illnesses, usually they just fall over dead one day.

ParticipantDespite what people have been saying here, this is going to hit SD, OC and Ventura counties really hard if this happens.
