ParticipantMost of the High Tech jobs in the L.A. area have migrated out of the metro area’s to the outer suburbs over the last 30 years (with the exception of Santa Monica and a little on the west side).
You are far more likely to work in Arcadia or West-Lake, Agoura, Valencia, Simi Valley, Moorpark, Newbury-park etc.. than the L.A. Metros if you work in High tech, it is very rarely that you would go to the Metro areas for most people.

Participant
LA freeways are way worse than I5 in San Diego, no comparison. I5 corridor around Carmel Valley is usually only clogged during rush hour. I5 or 405 in LA gets clogged up any time of the day including weekends.
Most angelenos only go through the 405 (near the L.A. Airport or I-5 Near Down town) maybe Once or twice a year (some every decade or so).
You are far more likely to drive from Valencia to Simi-Valley or West-Lake) (maybe Pasadena/Arcadia these days) and vise versa than ever going through Down-Town.
I think maybe a lot more San Diegans go through the I-5 through the Metro’s area’s on a daily basis.

ParticipantHollywood is definitely one of the better area’s in the L.A. Metro (but not a place I would recommend for kids).
I would Just be mindful in South and east L.A. or in Van Nuys near the 405.
Anyway luck with that.
You know they erected a 15 foot solid cement wall and put guards at the Van Nuys Costco right

ParticipantL.A. has a lot of very nice (But mostly very expensive) suburbs.
But a lot of the older valley and city areas are dangerous even during the day time.
It’s a mixed bag.
Traffic on the main freeways is bad but no worse really than the I-5 and other close to CV and SD city area roads.

1) Does not have the resources to be independent economically.
Of course it does. Not at their current standard of living but at some lower standard of living Greece can certainly support itself by trading tourism for whatever goods it can afford. It’s people won’t like the fact that they can’t retire at 60 anymore, but they’ll survive, just like the rest of countries that have gone bankrupt over the years.
But we can do it without much change in standard of living.

ParticipantWell it also does not help that it is very corrupt.

ParticipantSure all we would need to do is make sure no one is allowed to get pregnant and no one is allowed to move here.

ParticipantOn average SoCal grows at about 1500 people PER-DAY for the last 50 years or so.
To put that into perspective that’s more than two Temecula Valleys per year.

ParticipantI know there are a lot who would argue but without inflation there is no growth.
We need to link minimum wage to inflation that way it will not fall as far behind as we let it the last 20 or so years.
The-Shoveler
ParticipantSuburbs in SoCal tend to grow into major cities over 10-20 years.
The-Shoveler
ParticipantActually ALL of SoCal is becoming increasingly Asian.
By far not all of the more recent Asian Immigrants are rich (multi-millionaires), far more of them are coming here with just the shirt on their backs and a desire to better themselves.

ParticipantIn the 80’s there was a small rise created by emigrating Japanese (I know of several families who became instant millionaires selling their Tokyo properties and moving to L.A. Area).
But I think the Chinese emigration influence still has a long ways to go yet in this cycle IMO.
(plus they were actually building enough homes back in the late 80’s, not the story today). We are building a little more than 250K homes in the west which is a little more than 1/2 what they should be building.

ParticipantThey will just do what they have done for the last 50-100 or so years.
Sprawl further north and east until that becomes the new Jobs center(s), then repeat.
