I just went through this with my son. He graduated from college in May and as I said in a previous topic has a job which does pay his health insurance. So we dropped him from our coverage, and to my shock, their was no difference in our price. A friend of mines son also just graduated, his son has a job that does not pay his insurance, my friend is able to keep his son on his policy but only through COBRA and that is very expensive. I think the only was to stay on the policy is if you are a full or part time student and under 25 or 26. I think instead of blaming the kids as the entitled ones, I think of it as the parents protecting themselves from a large medical bill if the kid has no insurance. Because if they don’t have insurance and the kid has no money, who do you think will pay?
100% agree with this – I’d much rather pay ~$200+ per month for my kid to be covered. Although, don’t get me started on kids who are uninsured and pay that much for HD Cable + unlimited text / data cell phone plans!

TenaciousSDParticipant

This just in: GOP blocked the repeal of ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ and killed the Dream Act.
“The Senate vote, 56-43, falls short of the 60 needed to begin debate on a bill that includes the policy on gays in the military. The vote also holds up the Dream Act, a route to citizenship for those who have attended college or served in the military.”
This just in: The Democrats have 60 votes in the Senate…enough to pass ANYTHING without the GOP. Maybe you should focus on the 4 Democrats that voted no.
Total Members in Congress: 100
Democratic Caucus: 59 members (two of which are Independent)
Republican Conference: 41 members(Please see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate)

That’s not helping them, brian, it’s going to end up hurting them, and us!
CA Renter,
How will this bill end up hurting the individuals who will benefit from the so-called Dream Act? I am against illegal immigration – but I’m confused as to why keeping educated people or those who serve on our military would leave them worse off. -
