ParticipantMy wife used to work for the HOA in Eastlake. She told me that exact same story about 5 years ago. She said the same thing. But because the neighbor could see it the HOA lawyer said it had to be taken down. And it was.
On top of that you are at the mercy of the “board”. Because not enough people show up for elections board members are allowed to appoint people to vote for entire area’s of the HOA. So good luck with a fair election. Also board members plans are rarely turned down by the board.
After her stories I refused to buy in an HOA neighborhood.
So the only real way to win is to run for office.
Good Luck
It really sucks that your neighbors hate the sound of children having fun.January 4, 2014 at 8:27 PM in reply to: OT: How one School District got rid of the Greedy Teachers Union #769531tc

ParticipantI just had 34 panels put on my roof. They have been operating for about two weeks now. I was lucky and already had a 400 amp service. But I am all electric so its a no brainer. In 15 years they will have been paid off and I will have 10 years of warranty left. And I am saving about 30% right away.
I also got lucky because SDG&E dropped the neutral to my house and so had to replace and upgrade the cables. As well as reimburse me for all the stuff in my house that stopped working.
To bad my TV was 110-240V I would have loved to upgrade it.
Good luck.October 6, 2013 at 2:51 AM in reply to: OT: And you thought public employee unions were out of hand #766390tc

ParticipantI am a union stagehand. And I find that to be unacceptable.
I can also assure everyone that reads this that the stagehands in the San Diego theaters make enough to take care of their families and pay for a mortgage on a small house and no more. And many of us work 60+ hours a week.
Also the average non-union stagehand earns $14 an hour with no retirement or healthcare. So when they end up in the ER guess who ends up paying the bill.
And on a final note next time you go to a concert and look up to the 140,000 pounds of equipment over your head. Who do you want hanging it? A person making just enough to share an apartment with a bunch of other drug attics or a guy who has a family and a home to take care of.tc
ParticipantDon’t even think about moving to Florida with them. They wouldn’t be safe inside the house.

ParticipantI blame TV news.
Now we are being reminded constantly that not even school is safe.tc
ParticipantIf more of the country was unionized we wouldn’t need to worry so much about expensive government programs like food stamps, affordable health care acts, etc. Because unions make sure that employers are paying for it. At least private unions do.
America was at its best when the country was more union friendly. But whatever kill the unions and see where it gets us.Our children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

ParticipantAnd people wonder why this country is going down the drain.
