Topping the charts, coming in at number three with a bullet, it’s the COVID-19s!

svelteParticipantHad a household emergency yesterday so had to venture out to Lowes…they have plexiglass at the checkouts between the clerk and the customer now, and they were running announcements on the speakers telling folks to stay six feet apart.
I was impressed!
svelteParticipant
IMO the number of unreported and recovered cases most likely far out numbers the reported cases.
Totally agree.
svelteParticipantThe person we know in the hospital is now home, quarantined.
There are actually 8 folks in the household and, though five were not tested, they are all self quarantining.
Groceries are brought to them by others and left on the doorstep.
They are gonna have a fun April! That house is gonna feel more like a prison here before too long!
svelteParticipant
P I have lots of storage so i normally always have lots from Costco. But no hoarding.
We lucked out here too…we usually buy the 18 roll pack and my wife and I went to the store separately one weekend in Feb and each bought one unbeknownst to the other, so we should be able to make it quite a bit of time.

Doesn’t
“Flattening the curve” = “last longer”The spring breakers may shorten it, actually.
I agree. We flattened and lengthened it in order to keep the hospitals from overflowing.
Some on here counter that the warm weather is going to bring it to an end – I’m sure that will help a bit by shortening the time the virus can live on surfaces, but I don’t think it will end it. But it’s not my field of expertise.

Our father high in heaven, smile down upon your son
Who’s busy with his money games, his women and his gun

And then he made his name in Hollywood
To set the white man free
Oh Jesus save meIf Jesus saves, well He’d better save Himself
From the gory glory seekers who use His name in death

The weak that walk among us require tough love. Jesus has always been my savior. Got a problem with that hoss?
You’re just peachy keen in my book, sweetie!

More nonsense. Here is the key part of the article the punk omits.

This discussion reminds me of a joke I heard over the holidays. President walks into a Congressional Meeting and says we just killed 1/2 a million Iraqi’s and a beautiful blonde. The Majority leader stands up and asks “Mr President…why did we kill a beautiful blonde?” The President turns to the Secretary of State and whispers “See, I told you…..no one would care about the 1/2 million Iraqi’s”

Serious question. Are you a gay man?

What utter nonsense from a lazy punk pulling facts out of his rear end.

My, My, My…arent you the gal who ripped me for suggesting such a thing exists. Just the tip of the iceberg here. Enjoy life in your bubble.

Not afraid to get my hands dirty as I recently retired from the LAPD and need something to fill my time outside of golf, sailing and gun shows. Where are them house that gal was talking about?

Ironically, the computer industry and computer gaming industry might end up doing ok because of this because this virus might have triggered an earlier upgrade cycle than originally people predicted. And not everyone can afford a MacBook air or pro. if you have a few kids, and all of them are at home, you probably need more than one pc or Chromebook.
I lucked out in this area…last fall I bought each of the kids state of the art gaming computers. They are now being used for all of their online schoolwork and then they game out since we can’t go anywhere.
We’ve got 10 computers hooked up at our house, if you include the work laptops brought home for the month.

Yes. I was just thinking the other day – I’d really like news coverage that makes me do my own calcs.
Especially when it takes so much less effort to complain about it on a blog.
Heaven forbid I keep to the topic at hand:
Is anyone else utterly disappointed with the lack of intellectual rigor in most clickbait “news” articles these days?

Here ya go lazy:

Deaths per 1M population.
svelteParticipant

Retail is permanently affected.
Maybe. I don’t know. Buying groceries on line is dreary. Suddenly going to the grocery store seems almost magical. All that stuff they have, and you can go there any time you want and just walk up and down the aisles and buy whatever you want right then.
Yeah I’m not that jazzed with online groceries either. It was OK in a pinch, but not sure I want to use it regularly. If I have a broken leg or something that makes regular shopping a hassle, sure.
Though I’m a bit of an introvert, I’m still a social creature too. I like to get out there and watch humanity in action.
svelteParticipantI figure the bottom will be sometime between Monday (reacting to Trumps extension of distancing until end of April) and the middle of April (when I think deaths in the US should peak).
As early as late April, I’m hoping we start to see a recovery though it will probably not be robust and will take a long time to get anywhere close to where we were before this hit…certainly not this year. Too much of a mess to mop up first.
