Yes sacrilegious! No water in wine! Ive got a favorite white wine you would love and never consider adding water or ice to.
lol, I get it. I just like very subtle tastes…most wine and other beverages taste like syrup to me.
I’ve probably headed towards liking really light beverages because, besides wine, all I drink is water. No soda, nothing.
And now that I eat just fish and chicken (light meats), I almost feel physically ill when I eat a heavy, rich meat like a steak. I had one a few weeks back and that was a mistake.
I’m pretty picky with wines too…I just like dry wines such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio for the most part. French, Italian, and Californian in that order. I cannot stand the oak taste of Chardonnay, though steel barrel Chard is great. And SBs and PGs from Australia, New Zealand, Chile and a few other countries are way too sweet, with rare exception.
svelteParticipant
It’s something I enjoy not something I crave. It has zero control over me
I don’t crave it. I can resist the first drink just fine.
What happens is that once I have the first drink, sometimes I keep emptying the glass and refilling it. That’s where I get into trouble – with each refill the drink gets a little stiffer (with hard alcohol). Then I wake up the next morning with a terrible hangover. I’m not saying this happens every time I have hard liquor, but it happens enough times to make me want to avoid it. Besides, something that rough on my throat and stomach has got to be doing damage to my organs.
So I stick to wine. It is pre-measured and I even water it down a bit with ice (yeah I know, sacrilegious, but if it’s any consolation I only drink white wine). So as long as I don’t day-drink, I’m fine…I’m in bed and asleep before I’ve had too much wine. Much safer for me and I feel fine in the AM.
svelteParticipantI’m that way with hard alcohol. Every time I say thats it…never again. My latest relapse was when fireball came out (tho its alcohol content is fairly low) followed closely by a fernet and coke streak. Now I’m back to never again.

I dont think they even allow drinking while voting in a polling place.http://content.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1852102,00.html
i think it’s ok to be drunk, but you definitely cant break out the cocktail shaker. check your local lawyer for advice. safest bet is to stay home, get smashed, mail in in the morning.
lol you’ve thought this through! I had never even considered drinking while voting, and I’m one who enjoys a good drink!
Perhaps you’re yearning for the forbidden?
If nature hadn’t wanted us to imbibe, it wouldn’t have let berries ferment without intervention. I’ve seen those videos of drunk wildlife…
svelteParticipantGuess I’m not really in favor of rent control. If rents get too high and drive folks out, then eventually there won’t be workers around in the lower pay wages so either (a) they’ll have to pay higher wages, or (b) the city will start thinning out because of lack of workers to keep it running.
There are protections that I think need to be built into even a democratic society, but rent control isn’t one of them.

Up until the Chinese virus hit us, the economy was roaring ahead, clearly outpacing the GNP growth rates of the Obama
years.
lol, so you choose to completely ignore the hard numbers I posted and resort to generalizations.
Here are the numbers from the US and IMF:
Obama
2009 – -2.54
2010 – 2.56
2011 – 1.55
2012 – 2.25
2013 – 1.84
2014 – 2.53
2015 – 2.91
2016 – 1.64Trump
2017 – 2.37
2018 – 2.93
2019 – 2.33
2020 – -5.91Obama averaged 1.311
Trump averaged 0.43
You chose to ignore that and instead posted a generalization and excused Trump’s performance. Funny you didn’t make any allowances for Obama’s.
I would submit that the first year of a president’s term was based on the prior president, so it would all be shifted a year which would give Obama 2.2 and Trump 1.02
Not exactly a stellar story!
And yes we can blame Trump for this year – his floundering on a pandemic response and outright lies land this firmly in his lap. You know, the buck stops here thing? Only Trump doesn’t take responsibility for anything. Unless it’s positive, then he’ll take credit whether he did it or not.
svelteParticipant
But a quick covid recovery is not dramatically satisfying.
Have you seen the polls? Biden is leading in Georgia. Georgia! If that doesn’t say something I don’t know what does.
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/president-general/georgia/
And the news reports of lines for early voting in Georgia today. Many folks waited 2-3 hours, some folks up to 7.
People are fired up. And they are going to make damn sure their vote gets counted. If anything, he hurt his chances by trying to clamp down on voting. It convinced more folks to vote early. I know I’ve already submitted by ballot and so have a lot of my friends.

October isn’t over yet!
Although usually election year Octobers are OK.

Classic!
svelteParticipant
C-mon man! You are way smarter than to post this. I see a positive trend ( ~ 5%), pandemic, then another positive trend (~7%) while still in pandemic. And remember the Obama jobs were a lot of part time and service vs. mfg. jobs. MAGA
lol!
svelteParticipantI don’t know. I’m not sure it matters now.
People have by and large made up their mind.

Obama’s years were 2008-2016
Trump’s are 2009-2020
Obviously I meant Trump’s are 2017-2020.
svelteParticipantLet’s see how this one is going.
From Jan 5, 2019:

More good economic news from the Trump economy that liberals should be cheering.
The Labor Department just reported a jump in jobs of 312,000 for the most recent month, plus an upward revision of 58,000 for the previous month.
That is one piece of good news from the Trump administration.
Here’s how it stacks up to past presidents:
[img_assist|nid=26745|title=US Job Growth by Presidents Carter through Trump|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=466|height=291]
Both Carter and Clinton had higher job growth numbers.
This one sure went in the dumper.
[img_assist|nid=27253|title=Job Growth By President, 4 years into Trump’s presidency|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=466|height=267]
svelteParticipantAll right, Trump now has almost 4 years under his belt – let’s see how things went!
From Dec 24, 2018:

OK, here’s the spike: The growth rate during Obama’s 8 years averaged under 2%. This despite the historical tendency for deep recessions to be followed by strong recoveries. Under Trump the annual growth rate is approximately 3% per year, a difference that has a big long run impact over time.
Obama’s 8 years average out to under 2% because of that disastrous first year trying to recover from the previous administration. Otherwise it would have been higher (see chart below).
Trump’s growth rate appears to be on a downward trajectory now, I’ll continue to monitor it into his 3rd and 4th year.
Obama’s years were 2008-2016
Trump’s are 2009-2020[img_assist|nid=27252|title=US GDP Growth 2009-2020|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=466|height=346]
