ParticipantIt was my impression that the son was upset that the father was dating someone other than his mother and that was why the murder/suicide occurred. Yes, it is true that the father was having financial problems, and perhaps they contributed to the divorce, but the housing market being the cause of the murder/suicide is at best incorrect.

If it makes you feel better, I know of at least 1500 housing units slated to come online in the County of Riverside within the next three years. Quite a few are in Temecula, Hemet and the Winchester areas.
These projects have already been dedicated and entitled, so they have no choice but to build them.

I would say that the day he gives up and starts selling his properties just to get rid of them is probably when you can call “bottom”.

ParticipantThe “net” in the statement seems to refer to cash flow, but it could also be NOI (net operating income).
Doing a basic calculation of the property:
List price of $305k, Gross Income of $600*12*9=64,800. Assumed expenses around 33% of the gross income = 21,384.
I get a cash flow of about $25k. NOI = $43k.
So it seems that the $27k is about cash flow. But you’d probably better ask the owner about the numbers (always a good idea when investigating investment properties).

ParticipantI’ve been keeping track, and I’ve heard that the fire missed 4S Ranch. It burned a lot of north Rancho Bernardo, and that it didn’t quite get to the unconstructed houses west of 15.
As for anybody returning, no word yet.
