ParticipantDepends how they’re structured. Self-employed health insurance deduction is over and above the standard one.

ParticipantChicago is a big city — the crime is concentrated in certain areas.

ParticipantYou shouldn’t have to negotiate it.
Good parts of the Repubes’ plan…
(1) Subsidies appear to be here to stay
(2) By allowing premiums to pass through a taxfree HSA, it effectively extends the self-employed health insurance tax credit to W-2 wage earners who are not insured. Why do this in such a convoluted way?Hopefully, states will require insurance (a la Massachusetts pre-ACA) and set quality controls on what polities are acceptable, as well as community-rating like NY did pre-ACA and still does.

ParticipantSimple solution: enforce the 40-hour week for most if not all workers under $200,000/yr. Require paying 3x overtime for anything above 40 hr/wk.
Fines should be strict and harsh, the kind that drive businesses out of business. I’d start with a fine equal to the employee’s salary for 1st offense, and rising on up.

ParticipantMiller appears to be fit the “self-hating Jew” stereotype, similarly to Roy Cohn. (Coincidentally, Cohn was Trump’s mentor — he died of AIDS in the 80s, still believing that he had liver cancer.

ParticipantThe ideal situation would be a two-child limit per household in as many countries as possible. Not enforced criminally, but financially. Generous tax breaks for the first two kidlets, a slight tax break for #3, no more breaks for #4 and up.
Free birth control and education on birth control for all. Send every household a 365-pack of rubbers every year.

ParticipantI didn’t see pics of the top break. If I lived downriver from that thing, I’d be considering taking a vacation for a week or two.

ParticipantThe spillway isn’t the dam itself — it’s just a path for water to flow down. Is there any actual risk to using the regular spillway, other than the need for concrete repairs after the lake is drained?

ParticipantI want a hydrogen stove that uses electricity to electrolyze water and make hydrogen for cooking 🙂
BTW – interesting documentary about the charcoal industry in Haiti, deforestation, and its effect on the border area of the Dominican Republic.

ParticipantIt wouldn’t be a European-type VAT, it would be in the form of an import tariff, invisible to sheepsumers.

ParticipantWhy not? I have electronic equipment that’s 20-30 years old with LEDs that haven’t failed yet. Solid-state devices can last for decades.
