ParticipantYeah, it was pretty generous,,but I can do mid 20’s in a hour on the regular stationary training bike (lifecycle) with no class to help (though I usually do a half hour). Then I go lift girly weights and chat it up.
I have ridden on the road but won’t do it since my kids came along.
Seriously, are you that afraid? I used to go biking with my parents and sister along the coast road that goes through all the beach towns in central NJ. (Pretty similar to the stretch of 101 that goes from O’side to La Jolla, a bit narrower in places.)
Quite a bit of fun for a 8 year old, though I remember being terrified that they’d open the drawbridge while we were riding across it!

ParticipantSure on the road where you can coast. No coasting on these spin bikes.
I agree that it is boring….and not at all necessary….I have taken the one hour class exactly once. I went 30 miles. If you can do 30 mph for an hour, you’re either Iron Man or the bike wasn’t set to emulate a real bike too well 🙂
This being said, given the right kind of road, you don’t HAVE to coast or rest up if you don’t want to.

Either they’re in such a rage that they don’t care, or they’re psychopaths that think they’re above the law. Either way, it’s scary and hopefully they’ll be looking for a new job shortly.

ParticipantSpin class … bleeeeeech. I’d rather do the real thing, meaning an actually bike on roads or trails.

ParticipantWhy not “make friends” with some of the yakking women? You sound like you could use some “friendship.”

ParticipantThe fuckers were probably too enwrapped in their little roid rage episode to notice. (And yes, steroid use among cops is depressingly common.)

ParticipantBecause being a nurse requires some sort of social conscience and the ability to think with more than one’s nightstick.

ParticipantThat’s like saying that humans need a training program so as not to end up like Charles Manson. Some training is needed, but there apparently are also some real psychos out there who need locking up. Or a stay in the “green room” at San Quentin.

As to releasing gas from missile strikes, I’ve heard that they use incendiary bombs that burn extremely hot (thermit?) and that it dissociates the gas into something less harmful. Nice theory, whether it will work in practice and get all the gas is an open question, since I’ve heard that nerve gas is fatal even in very small doses.

ParticipantNo: they need jailing.

ParticipantProjector HDTVs are great if you want to sit in a dark room. Otherwise the contrast is terrible.

ParticipantWhy take out the FP? If they want their plastic teat, they can stick it in front of the FP, and if they burn the place down through their stupidity, that’s what insurance is for.
I highly doubt that taking out the fireplace will get you more rent in any case. Given a clean-looking apartment, tenants in desireable areas ain’t that picky.
Maybe in 10 years, we’ll have flexible big-screen TVs that you can just unroll and hang on a wall, or have them automagically unroll from the ceiling when needed.

ParticipantTo be clear, AIPAC is not Israel.

ParticipantWouldn’t surprise me — who has an interest in us intervening?
