ParticipantAFAIK, it’s not on the Penn campus but about 15 blocks away. I think 22nd and Chestnut.

ParticipantDon’t know if that’s the case in this instance. I remember reading about operations (less organized) like this in the 90s — set up around bases and catering to military people, I believe. This isn’t anything new, though it may have become more prevalent.

ParticipantProblem is that it inflates used car prices for the rest of us. Being able to buy a running used car for under $3000 is niiiiiiice, and I hope it stays that way.

ParticipantI’d avoid it like a virulent case of Ebola. (JMHO)
The land owner basically has the HOA by the yarbles. If you do buy it and plan to rent it out, make sure that your return is such that it’s worth it if the property becomes worthless in 2027.
Also, check what’s the mortgage situation on a land-leased building. Banks often don’t look favorably upon this type of situation.

ParticipantIf you’re into that kind of thing, the Mutter Museum in Filthydelphia would be right up your alley and a 2-hr drive or train ride away.

Participant“Trained on a system” doesn’t imply current possession of said devices. I imagine that there are plenty of ex-USAF people alive who were trained how to employ a nuclear weapon, yet no longer have access to said weapons.
This being said, even if the missile did come from Russia and shoot down a plane across the border, it still didn’t make it a good idea for a civilian airliner to be in the same airspace a few days later!!! If you’re hit by a missile fired by the Russian military vs one fired by terrorists, you’re just as dead.
And the Russians have a long history of shooting first and not apologizing later.

ParticipantMeaning it’s high time for a good CRASH. 🙂

ParticipantStated that it was probably shot from Russia as opposed to Ukraine. Make is more likely that it was not the separatists.
If Ukrainian intelligence wasn’t aware that the separatists had a longer-range SAM system, they would have blamed the Russians, since the Russians are known to have such equipment.

ParticipantRepeating the same thing w/o references or supporting information does not make it true. I gave references for what I stated. Please do likewise.

“Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s office said the plane had been flying at an altitude of 6,500 meters (about 21,000 feet) and so couldn’t have been shot down by the rebels’ portable antiaircraft missiles.”

ParticipantHow does a MANPAD shoot down a transport flying at 21,000+ ft, considering that the range of the MANPADS available to them have a range of 12,000 ft on a good day?
The BUK missiles were likely used against military targets before. This was just the first time they messed up and hit a civilian target.

ParticipantNext time, make like Paul Simon’s boxer and lie-lie-lie to get on the jury. Then NULLIFY!
Fuck the law and fuck the people who enforce them with no human compassion whatsoever.

ParticipantIt’s gradually happening, at least with marijuana. Hopefully there will be another recession soon and gov’t will be even more starved. They’ll realize that paying for private prisons for non-violent offenders isn’t worth it.

ParticipantThey’re not doing this in the name of safety. They’re doing this to grub money from the innocent and justify their pathetic existences.
Considering the victim here was disabled, doesn’t CA have laws against the exploitation of the mentally ill or disabled? Perhaps this could be prosecuted criminally given enough publicity and the cockroaches responsible be given a few years in San Quentin.

ParticipantParamount- why are you blaming both sides before you know who shot the missile?
