ParticipantI don’t look at them as parasites,
but for those of you that are experts at everything in life and can’t imagine paying anybody to do anything, you don’t need
any coverage.Anything mechanical comes naturally to me and doing it is generally fun. Watching other workers do it for me is boring, and I wouldn’t trust ’em to do a good job without supervision.

ParticipantHe’s a Russian government official. Therefore bugger him. My family lived for 30 years with a Russian boot up their butts. I tolerate Russian people, but I have no love for Russian government nor any of their officials.

ParticipantI’ll be happy when there’s another recession. Chaos == opportunity.

ParticipantFortunately, it will take a few years for minimum wagers (even if slightly more UPPITY min wagers) to save up enough even for a 3% down payment. Meanwhile, they’ll keep renting, as they should be.
PS – all I want for Christmas this year is a nice foreclosed home or three where the bumlosers living there have already been kicked out like mangy dogs.

Participant5% and 3% GDP rises after a 1st quarter 3% drop. This quarter will likely be flat or anyway less than 5%. Durable goods orders don’t look too promising. Down 0.7% again — yay.
No matter. I’m actually hoping for a slowdown in late 2015 through 2016. Chaos is opportunity. Bah HUMBUG!

Participant2% per annum compounded over 35 years is only 200%. If they bought it for $40,000 in 1979, it’s quite plausible.
Also, there may have been some years where the assessment did NOT go up by the 2% per annum.

ParticipantFlyerInHI, do you really want to be doxxing people on a public forum based on what’s essentially hearsay by one forum member?

ParticipantIs your goal punishment or justice?
If you want the disabled man to actually get the house back, how about some creative blackmail vs a police report? If the broker stands trial, the value of the house might be eaten up by lawyer’s fees and Lord knows what else. Whereas, if he can be convinced to sell the house back to the victim at a slight loss…

ParticipantWhy not just ask for a discount on the purchase price rather than having the seller pay some parasites for a “warranty”?
And yeah, motor capacitors are about $25 if you’re unlucky and take less than an hour to replace. Charging $600 is pure sodomy.

ParticipantSort of a digression, but I didn’t know that co-ops existed outside of NY, NJ, FL, and MD. Do co-ops in CA include property tax in the maintenance payment? Co-ops are technically one building, not separate tax lots, so r.e. tax should be pooled.

Good — he’s part of the problem. Bugger him.

ParticipantNot hard to do in NJ right now that it has the highest foreclosure rate in the country… 🙂 Christie’s policy of non-interference hath its advantages.

ParticipantBut why not surround yourself with an environment that doesn’t make you want to beat your head against a wall most of the time? Vegas would do that to me, and being able to get out of prison for a month or two a year to go to a place that doesn’t suck is still not the answer.

ParticipantAll jobs either adapt or go away. I don’t see a huge call for steam engine firemen either.
