ParticipantNo effect — I think most foreign buyers are buying to hold, not to flip. Some might sell as a result, some might buy, but the effects will cancel.

ParticipantAs long as the smart thermostats or appliances don’t incorporate spyware. They should be smart enough to do their thing without uploading occupancy data to the clown … I mean cloud.

ParticipantBlah-blah-blah, yappa-yappa-hey. “Lifestyle limitation.” Our lifestyle will be a hell of a lot more limited by coastal flooding, droughts, damage to crops, disease spread via insects, etc.
Where the US goes technologically, other countries tend to follow.
The “natural changes” argument is frankly rationalizing horseshit. If you want to drink that Kool-Aid, enjoy. Clean energy sources exist with current tech. Nuclear, solar, hydro, etc. No need to limit our lifestyle so much, other than maybe cutting back on air travel and insta-shipping. (Do we really need that iTrinket shipped from China overnight?) This assumes that hydrogen-powered aircraft can’t be made to work.

ParticipantBringing health care costs and education costs in line with historical norms is hardly adopting the worst aspects of European countries. We can still treat immigrants with respect and grow as a country even if we experience some changes.
If anything, having a basic level of insurance that’s portable between states by default would encourage more people to leave established companies and found startups and small businesses.
Lowering education costs so that anyone who qualifies can “work” their way through college would also increase economic mobility.
No one. Literally NO ONE is suggesting that we adopt the system of nepotism that exists in some countries outside of the US.

ParticipantI don’t agree with Sanders carping about the rate hike, but I still respect the man.

ParticipantYeah, exactly, I meant someone walking from Canada. There’s not exactly a fence there.

ParticipantPrices are set by buyers not sellers. If there are no takers at an offered price, the value is lower. Regardless of whether the listing is pulled or not.

ParticipantFortunately, once a correction starts to snowball, it will take a while for even lowered rates to re-inflate things. 🙂

ParticipantI disagree — why not come in as a tourist or to Canada then across the border? The two year vetting process for refugees would make coming in as one like performing brain surgery while wearing a blindfold and ski gloves.
As far at the Internet — I think it amplifies hatred. It provides a forum for people to spread their hatred and for others not yet radicalized (yep, said it) to follow in their footsteps.

ParticipantAbout bloody time. Hope to see 30-year rates hold steady above 4% next year!
