ParticipantTrump expressed the desire to shoot someone — can we start a GoFundMe to buy them all dueling pistols?

ParticipantAs good as anything. SSD is still off-board AFAIK, so you can upgrade it later if need be. 128 should be enough for basic tasks, but if you want to be cloudfree for other things, you may need more.

ParticipantWhat’s up with the word wrap for this topic? Makes it harder to read.
Blame me — I think the ginormous picture of front yards that I inserted messed things up.

ParticipantWhat’s disappointing is that all of the candidates that are heavily supportive of NASA are either berzerk in other ways or have no chance of winning (Bush the Third).

ParticipantLet’s hope they’re too broke to even move and stay put.

ParticipantNothing to lose by trying it. You can get a working mobo for that particular Mac for under $200.
If it works, great. $250 less in Timmy Crook’s pocket.
If you fuck the old board, nothing to really lose, and no chance of data loss since the storage is not part of the mobo.

ParticipantDepending on exact model, the hard drive is either a 1.8″ spinner or an SSD. Removable either way. Do not bake the hard drive or SSD board 🙂

ParticipantSee my first post on this string. I mean literally baking it in an oven to reflow any cracked/cold solder joints.

ParticipantJust buy the damn thing on EBay from a seller that has a DOA guarantee and good feedback. And, as I said, try baking the old board first if your wife won’t kill ya.
But speaking of Apple stores, Apple devices have been known to have “quiet recalls” out of warranty for defective logic boards, etc. Some can be honore for years.
Would not hurt to ask.

ParticipantI just did the mainboard on a 2012 MBA for a friend. The board itself was under $200 on EBay and took about 15 minutes to replace.
I’ve never seen the innards of the 2010 version, so I cannot speak to ease of replacement, but looks like the logic boards sell for $150-200.
You can’t get a new Macbook for that price, and it’s less money in Chinese polluters’ and Apple pockets, so I’d say go for it.
The other option is to bake the logic board. That’s right. Heat an oven to 375F, remove any foam parts from the board, bake it on standoffs in a preheated baking pan for 8 minutes, then let it sit till it’s cold. This reflows the solder on the board and sometimes fixes issues.

ParticipantI’d take individual rights over extreme wealth any day. If you want an American city to be run like Singapore, move to Singapore.
Singapore, where you can get a bullet for possessing half a pound of weed. Where they check your car’s fuel tank before you leave to keep you from buying cheaper gas in Malaysia. Where you can be JAILED for “slandering the government.”
The one thing that can be said for S’pore is that punishments tend to be more immediate (fines or caning) vs jail time, which costs the public money and serves to train better criminals.
I’d rather have it be run somewhere in between Singapore and Trinidad. Which it sort of already is.

Participant^^^
Screw them both. Hope Hillary is given the choice of criminal charges or quietly dropping out of the race due to “health reasons.” Another Wall St/special interest pimp.
Hope Bloomy wastes a billion or so tilting at windmills. Coming fron NYC, Bloomberg is an authoritarian pile of pigshit who doesn’t respect Constitutional rights and wants to micromanage the public.

SANDERS 2016! Unlike Bloomy, he’s a social libertarian if not quite a libertine.
Though I personally think it’s a shame that Obama can’t have a third term.

ParticipantWell, now the authoritarian gang will have Bloomberg to vote for as well!

ParticipantThe kids in these MD and VA towns are typically bused to school with their stop situated on a two-lane country road.
Rural America is a shitty place to raise kids. Older “streetcar suburbs” and small towns are much better in this respect.
