Participant
By the way, I still get a chuckle every time the term “poo-poo head” makes it’s way into a Pigg’s post. It’s an inside joke that our more recent members might not quite appreciate.
Please enlighten us.
But be warned, my 4-year-old is very fond of this moniker.Shadowfax

ParticipantI am for the ignore it and it will go away approach.
Although in the extreme cases–where the poster self-perpetuates the string and you can’t make it go away–you are kind of stuck (I have Marion in mind). Even there, I think those strings would have fallen off the list if people didn’t keep responding, adding fuel to that particular fire.

Participant
Point taken Shadowfax – but if the economy and the effects that a new presidency will have on a whole lot of issues is actually what you want to talk about – why did you put up a youtube clip of Obama stammering at a Town Hall?
You’re right – this will be one of the most important decisions we will make in a generation. If that’s what you really want to talk about, then talk about it.
You didn’t make that very clear by posting a video that has absolutely nothing to do with either candidate’s issues and policies.
Both of them are human – both of them $%ck up.
Its not as if John McCain hasn’t said and done some fairly assinine things this election cycle either.
We could sit here and find appropriate news/video clips of both of them being eejits, and play ‘gotcha’ all day long – but what would be the point?
but I didn’t post that link….jfiquette did! I am an Obama supporter and I think the campaign gaffes are beside the point. I care more about what the candidates are offering up as policies and not necessarily their off-the-cuff responses (which I note Bush has been sigularly careful in avoiding with his hand-picked audiences and carefully planted questioners). At least these two candidates can respond somewhat intelligently…

ParticipantNice! You finally have added some substance to the discussion!! Bravo!
Everything I wrote in my post I got from internet sources–some from McCain’s campaign website, a lot from Wikipedia, some from other alleged biographies. So they may have had inaccuracies, which is different from lying. The best part about chronicaling history is that people see things–and even record things–differently. I did not take the effort to double-check or cross-check every “fact” I read elsewhere. I knew someone here would do that for me.
Thanks for finally adding something to the debate.
I will take a look at what you have offered and see if I can find any material to refute it or something that casts a different interpretation and…I’ll be back to report on what I find.
For the record, I don’t dislike the guy. And I really feel for him and what he went through. But I certainly think that, after the last 8 years, the party really could have come up with someone better.
I really want to address your issues re patriotism (from another thread) but honestly can’t come to terms with how separationist your worldview is. Will need some thought to try to see the entire country as us (military) against them (civilians). I thought we were fighting terrorist, not our own neighbors…?
