ParticipantEsmith:
Ok you just about take the cake for the most racist post I have seen on this site! Detroit has a lot of problems, poverty, racism, government corruption, welfare fraud, etc. being some of the biggest. But to make sweeping generalizations based on race is really not very “data minded.”
Address the problems, not the race of the people experiencing or perpetuating those problems, and I think most folks will be ok with the points you are trying to make.
There is also a large white population in and around Detroit proper, some of whom, along with their black counterparts, are ex-car factory workers living off welfare after they were laid off in the 80s, from which Detroit never fully recovered. There is not much opportunity in that part of the country for anyone. Let’s just keep the discussion accurate and not another racist tirade, shall we?
I resemble that remark, but I make time to try to stay informed–I also have to speak out against all the wacko right-wing political propaganda, where ever it is smeared.

I wish a moderator would have deleted this thread 6 pages ago.. we need a moderator here badly
I have to agree–you guys are getting a little too “cozy” on here. Take it to the electronic version of a room and PM each other… π Especially the details re substances of choice…why don’t you invite the feds to your front door?
That said, I like Rage, Flogging Molly, most all classical (although you need some serious spare time to do the opera thing), still like Arrested Development even though they are a little passe, Offspring, etc.
You guys going to hang out by the DQ tonight and cruise for girls? (or whatever teenagers say these days).
Wow, it’s kind of dull now that Casca has moved on to torment some other blog thread… No common enemy–maybe that’s the answer for why we got into the Iraq mess–America would be bored if we were at peace with no one to rally against?

Participant
Casca, I don’t agree with this. You didn’t not take anything from me or make me tired. One of the terrible things about cliques or apparent cliques is that when the “outsider” leaves it seems clear that they harbor ill will, fundamental feelings of superiority or complete rejection for the person. I can see where you might feel “ganged up on”, including by me. Overall that isn’t the intent. It got sloppy. Best wishes to you.
Would someone please say “get a life Rustico”?
You are far too kind to someone who gets their kicks out of mixing it up. There is no “clique” here–we all have our opinions and points of view. His is extreme and he’s not willing to discuss things rationally–he just likes to engage in verbal warfare, or at least fisticuffs. Then he ducks out when he’s sufficiently annoyed and insulted everyone for his own enjoyment (but still hasn’t proven his point or persuaded anyone).
Others here are rational, decent people who enjoy discussing current events (and perhaps how they tangentially relate to housing?). The discussion is better off for his absence. Good riddance.
“Quote” is right next to “Reply.”
And I’ll say it: Get a life, Rustico.
