Participant47% decline? How much was the appreciation runup? 100%,150%, 200%? If the market is going to become “affordable” to the “average” San Diegan 47% isn’t close.
While some(very few) areas of Clairemont are nice most is/was always lower middle class. Lol, so a 400,000 dollar home is “middle class”?
IMHO, it still comes down to basic fundamentals. The median income for San Diego single or family doesn’t come close to putting someone into a median priced home, in a relatively decent community, one where all the houses aren’t barred up.

ParticipantGandalf, your posts are quite a dichotomy, at least to me.
First paragraph, I would concur with it’s context.
Second paragraph, 1- I agree, 2 – somewhat disagree, probably due to our differing opinion of the “policy”.
Third paragraph, first seems to contradict the previous. I would disagree that it’s diminished our “leverage” with the Saudis. I will concede we have given away much advantage from the action. It’s not a distraction at all, far from it. If anything it’s distracted AQ.
Fourth paragraph, “reducing our footprint” the issue with that was how he planned on going about it, he has altered his earlier asap stance, to a more calculated one. Regardless it should be done in a manner that allows a “power transfer balance” (I hate using the word balance it really has no place in this context or many others)meaning as the Iraqis can successfully replace their American counterparts. Otherwise, most of our efforts were wasted. Also, to publicly state a time table is just plain Stupid. I agree with the rest of the paragraph
Fifth paragraph, No, we don’t. It’s a waste of time and is a distraction. There will be no peace until the other Arab nations actually support it.
The palestinians are mostly, pawns of other interests in the area. Their “leadership” has and continues to sell them out.Sixth paragraph, Valerie Plame wasn’t a field operative at the time she was “outed” and hadn’t been for a while. As it stands I am all for Richard Armitage(?) being charged, the “investigation” and it’s resulting trials were a farce. Off topic, there IS an interesting connection with her husband, William Jefferson, and Niger going back to a previous administration.
Seventh paragraph, I agree mostly about the freak show as long as your comment isn’t limited to those who dare question Obama . The flag pin itself is somewhat moot, his initial comments were more of the issue.
Eight paragraph, Partisan politics divide us. The majority of politicians vote right along party lines. Put Obama in the front of the line on that one. My opinion is most of our elected officials have turned their backs on their constituents who voted them in and vote party politics.
The Patriotism issue is somewhat muddled, it’s mostly against the Democrats as their own words are being used against them…Murtha, Durbin, Kennedy, Reid etc.
LOL, No, I don’t think Obama is a Muslim. For verification, ask his pastor of twenty years. I don’t see jfiq as slime for his comments, unless I missed something I’ve seen worse written here by others (lol, maybe it depends on whose side you’re on), it’s alledgedly a basic right in AMERICA.Ninth paragraph, I agree, and not just because I am bored to death with myself at this point.

ParticipantRustico,
What exactly was crap about what Krauthammer wrote?
Besides you didn’t like it?
I appreciate the fact you seem to be non-partisan with the comments you followed with but, I do wonder.“I just don’t accept the debate ultimately boiling down to this idea that we were somehow thrust into this role of the most legitmate and necessary world power innocently and are simply doing what we have to as the lesser of evils including torture”
Well with a statement like that, there is no need to debate anything, you preempt the use of a critical point as the United States isolationist policies at this time were coming to an end.
Open a beer and ponder they way things would be if the U.S. didn’t fill or attempt to fill that void.Firstly, make a list of how many other nations have attempted to help others the way the U.S. has. Keep it simple. Are the results of the U.S.’s financial, industrial etc. aid to other countries equal to the amounts of/results from aid to those (countries) that turned (willfully or not) to the former Soviet Union or China? Two nations that define the term hegemonic?
Is it willful blindness or just laziness? If you follow even the “MSM” there’s notice of rising Nationalism (for the sake of brevity I am narrowing it down to one term) throughout many countries in the world, even in Europe.
I don’t see that taking place in the U.S. indeed, we are well on our way to surrendering our sovereignty, leaning toward consideraton of outside governments and their laws in our affairs (gotta be a good “term” to sum that up, someone, please help with that).
As for this election and past, I am tired of having to choose between the lesser of two evils. I don’t care for either candidate. Whle I have a little more “faith” in McCain than Obama it’s not much.
