Participant
You’re not going to find anything in CV at 2001 prices. Not now, not ever. Carmel Valley single family homes, at best (lowest), are at late 2003 levels. Which are a solid 50% higher than 2001 prices. While real values in CV have a slight chance of dropping 50% at some point, nominal prices will never approach 2001 levels.
Math check: If today’s prices are 50% higher than 2001 prices, then prices would only have to drop 34%, not 50% to be below 2001 prices.

ParticipantI once went whale watching in Mexico. This was in San Ignacio Lagoon, about 2 1/2 hours down a dusty road from San Ignacio in Baja.
Was $25 per person. There were three of us travelling together and we were in a 20′ ponga (boat) with just the guide. Whales would come up and rub against the underside of the boat, and stick their noses up so we could pet them! These are wild animals ! I think that was the best $25 I ever spent. Of course, you have to look at it as a marginal cost …

Participant
100 Tacos from Jack in the Box….$49.50 plus tax
Dude. I went to a padres game and got a coupon for 2 free JIB tacos. Tried them out the other day. Greasiest thing I have ever eaten in my life – in a bad way. I like greasy stuff, but this was just nasty. Apparently, they are so bad, there is a charity organization who is collecting those coupons for hungry and homeless people. They give so many away, yet nobody wants the tacos !
Great thread !
