ParticipantSterilization (temporary until you reform) has been long been a favorite idea of mine. You address the nature vs nurture argument at the same time. But I would start with murderers and sex offenders.
Personally I would tell Octo mom that she is on her own and if she can’t support the kids then give them up for adoption. I would adopt one of her kids before I ever gave her a dime.

ParticipantNo one seems to be paying much attention to one of Maldonado’s demands, putting open primaries on the ballot. Is this a lost cause or is the majority still focused on the next 24 hours like usual?
Bill Handel said that our legislature is like two immovable forces hitting head on. Judging from the last budget crises I agree. Unless I’m missing something I think an open primary would be good for us in the long run. In principle I love the idea. Of course it is going to get tag-teamed by both the Blues and the Reds, oh and don’t forget the polarized media. Sigh.
Well, for the sake of conversation, does anyone know what open primaries have done for other states?

ParticipantIf we don’t fire about 50 percent of Congress for lack of performance than it is the definite proof that we have hope but no expectations. Hope is just another way of saying “I give up. I’m too lazy as a voter. Just give me the illusion of progress.” There’s a ginormous difference between hope and expectations.
I say vote for some random third party candidate and put a thorn in the side of congress, both dem and rep. We’re gonna hurt regardless of whom we put in office. Might as well give the hurt back to them. They should no longer enjoy their job security. And add to that having to deal with a third-party fruit cake.

ParticipantIf we have to pay for the consequences of peoples actions then we should have a say in their future actions. That’s part of my definition of equality.
Oh you’ve already had six kids? Well, since we the public will have to pay for the eight more then we say “NO”!!!
Liberals! Make sure we are all willing to share the burden before you commit us to the burden! Forcing people into socialism is an oxymoron, at best.
