Gun Lock Law: I think a law should be passed to ensure only the gun owner can shoot their gun using something they have or own. It could be a RFID chip, thumb print, PIN number, swipe card, and so on. The market place can work it out.
They tried it.. doesn’t work and was too problematic. Do you code it to all members of family, only one? The problem with RFID, Swipe Card is that in a home invasion, etc.. you have to find where you put those items(An there have been several documented examples of handguns being used to foil home invasions, one of them being quite recent and recorded across 911). RFID/swipe card can be hacked.. and the readers are fairly large. I have worked with thumbprint readers.. very problematic, particularly with Asians.
I know this sounds crazy because a handmade gun could be created so easily but then I remember seat belts. By law I have to wear my seat belt. As a result everyone is safer.
It is crazy, because the Criminals will just pick up a black market manufactured gun.. Saturday Night Special II. You would have to have everyone patted down by police whenever the police feel like it to stop this.. do you want civil liberties to go that way? Is that an effective use of police effort?
No you wouldn’t. You would follow the constitution, search only when reasonable and put people in prison for long periods of time for gun possession in public. There would be a very strong incentive not to carry a gun. Or to shoot it out with the police to avoid the long sentence. If the penalty is 25 years in prison for gun possession, that’s a strong incentive to just carry a knife.

ParticipantIt may be mentally taxing to kill by gunfire, but it lacks the physical intensity of a strangling or beating. People can often take a very good ummeling and not die.

ParticipantI agree as to life expectancy but not so much as to life quality.
I think life quality will be heading steadily down.
All of this will be prolonging a long slow inevitable decline into nonfunctional mess.
The only thing that can save us is physical movement.
Yes movement.
We all need to move around a lot more.

ParticipantPerhaps long term. But youth is often short term oriented. I remember often just being focused on the upcoming week.

Participanti think the right answer is, there is no safe way to get a totally safe 5% after tax (or pre-tax) return on money today.

Participantone of the terms of my mortgage to my kid is he must come over every friday night for dinner.
well, i see flu’s point.
it would be cool if I were ina position to someday help my kid.
one big problem i see is with having different kids in different life situations. I might think one of them is an idiot for buying a house ina particular situation, while another one is extremely stable and sharp and ready.
one of the worst things parents can do is play favorites. it is very very damaging. ibelieve in fairness amongst kids,a nd it would be difficult to achieve utter fairness as a lender.
what if my kid started haggling with me over his laon rebate cause his appraisal came in high?
therefore i think this should only be done in single kid families or where loans are freely available at all kid’s discretion.
but then would you get to shoot them down if the third kid wa sbuying too much house in your opinion?

Participantonce one good person starts shooting to stop the bad guy, all the other armed people will know he’s a good guy because only good guys will be allowed to dress in white, and will therefore hold their fire. the bad people will be required to dress in black.
the morally ambiguous people will be required to wear varying shades of grey.
a lite gray will indicate a certain level of virtuousness, while charcoal will reveal a level of general depravity with occasioanl kind acts.
Shoot away. kill the least number of virtuous people possible.

Participantstop whining. this is a small price to pay to ensure we are not oppressed by the federal govt.
just stay in your home, watch tv, clean your pea shooters, and listen as the Blackhawks fly like a flock of hideous dinosaur-birds over your yard.

Participantfor instance, if my kid didn’t choose my “paperless statement” option, Id get all pissed off… i’d be like what’s up, man, why are you “ignoring” my request for paperless statements? and he’d be like, I wasn’t ignoring it, I was just waiting toconsider it for a later time. and i’d be like, do you know how much it costs me to send youa statement every month? and he’d be like…

ParticipantI don’t think I would’ve liked owing my parents money. At all.
This could severely strain a relationship.
Or not. It depends.
This would not be a good idea for student loans.

ParticipantUh if we are going to war w the Feds there are going to be collateral damage. Your pea shooter won’t mean shit against their armored vehicles. You need ieds and big explosives to fight your revolution. And you can’t be scared about killing a few hundred thousand innocents.
