I lived in Murrieta for 20 years and the only time I can compare this to is the early 90’s. Everyone I personally know in any industry related to housing or construction is in a world of hurt. I’m in the restaurant business and so far we are doing OK. We have seen a single digit sales decrease after 11 straight years of increases. Interesting parallel, our sales in the restaurants peaked in mid 2006 and have been slowly declining since.
If your ever in Murrieta take a trip down Madison Ave it speaks volumes about whats going on – Circuit City , Saks Furniture, Leisure Living Superstore all gone. My sense is that there are a lot of businesses just holding on and the latest round of fuel surcharges and the upcoming minimum wage increase is going to be the straw that breaks the camels back.December 28, 2007 at 7:33 AM in reply to: 2002 price – but the owner is living behind the washer / dryer. #125796pizzamanParticipantfat_lazy_union_

It will be interesting to follow the fate of the house, it really is a premium location and would have had multiple offers during the boom. If it sits it will be a true indication of how bad things really have become. I have seen several houses in the last couple of weeks that I thought would go but they are still sitting.

pizzamanParticipantI found this board in 2006 when I googled “housing bubble”. Lurked for a time while I still owned my two properties which I was able to sell earlier this year. Today I could purchase similar properties for 200k less than what I sold for. Easiest money I ever made. Thanks Piggs.
