ParticipantCA unemployment is 8.4% and the nation is 6.7%. So this should indicate that people may leave CA for better opportunities of employment. Unless CA stagnates and the rest of the US catches up. But that’s theory and guessing. These numbers are here and now. Both escalating.

ParticipantLet’s just raise property tax to a more “normal” level. That should cover it. It’s been stuck in prop 13 land way too long. 1974, I think it was. Time to pay up all you laggards living off the largesse of the little guy who doesnt own property, but is forced to pay taxes on every other thing imaginable, but never enjoys the incredible rise in real estate values here in CA.
Payback’s a biotch, but it’s day is coming.peterb

ParticipantProps to Rusty. I did steal it. Used it several times inthe last week as well. It’s good! Imitaion as flattery.
One note on anecdotal evidence: There’s so much BS manipulation of “data” in the world today that actually going out and looking for oneself can be far more revealing that trusting data from sources you cant or should not trust. As a matter of fact, checking the real world is how I test the “data” that comes at me. If they dont match-up, it causes me to investigate something on my own. And this is happening far more inthe last few years than ever before.
In this case, I’m seeing what the media is saying…wont be a good retail Christmas. But I predicted this months ago. Ray Charles coulda seen it coming.(Not sure who to credit for that one.) And as for credit cards, the industry is already predicting trouble. They’re going to lower their exposure by at least $1T in the next year by lowering limits. Defaults are starting to climb fast.peterb

ParticipantLike most politicians, they just dont or wont get it. They’re gonna find out how PO’ed people can get this time around. CA has got way too many taxes already. Hell, we even have a cap gain tax of 9.3% on top of the Fed govt.
People will shut down activity and/or leave this place. I know I have and will probably relocate most if not all my business activities and income to another state. It aint that hard to do if they make it worth my while. -
