ParticipantI vote my ideals, my wallet be damned. The more you have, the more you should give back. That doesn’t necessarily mean more taxes since the government can be very wasteful.
I believe in a world where people of all classes and backgrounds relate and are kind to one another.
I believe in doing the right thing, not the self-serving thing. And to me that means being a liberal.
Real estate wise, I despise gated communities. Architecture and urban planning should enlighten people’s lives rather than separate people. We currently have dreadfully ugly urban planning. San Diego could be so much better.

Participantjan777, I’m a little confused here. You’re seeing all the foreclosures in Corona and you bought a new KB house for investment purposes? How much do you think your new house will appreciate and when?

ParticipantI like the way Jim brands himself “Jim the Realtor.” Very smart of him.
Need a Realtor? Well, Jim of course!

ParticipantLike kewp said, much of the money is wealth creation rather than currency in circulation. When the economy crashes, well of course, that wealth goes to heaven (don’t remember who said this first).

Participanti should add that it’s not a matter of the letter of the contract but a matter of expediency for the builder. They need to sell houses and they need willing and able buyers.
If you’re not able close on the house, they’d be foolish to try to force you. You’ll both lose.
Don’t tell them you changed your mind… Tell them that you absolutely can’t close.

ParticipantI’ve heard of people getting out of contracts.
Give them some sob story about some personal professional and family problem (without being specific) that will cause you not to be able to close.
They don’t want to force anyone who can’t close to buy a house. It would be against their self interest. There’s still enough time for them to sell to someone else, and if they do, they have not incurred any loss and have no reason to keep your deposit.
If they do, and the amount is under $7,500, sue them in small claims court. They’ll return your money rather than deal with the hassle.
