On the subject of gold, I think it’s currently in a speculative bubble – based on the belief by many that the USD/Euro will got belly-up. If the US/EU situation quiets down, I think it could selloff in a hurry, much like oil did a couple years ago once people realized the demand crisis wasn’t quite as bad as it seemed.
That said I currently hold gold, silver, and oil and will continue to until they turn down.

permabearParticipantSeriously, sometimes I think if I see another house with f*cking tuscan arches and bad stonework I’m going to scream.
People, there are magazines you can buy at the supermarket for like, $5, before spending $50k on a bad GC-“designed” remodel.

permabearParticipant
I don’t want to bang on health care. I guess I am just kind of awed by the reach of the govt. When does it stop and where does it end?
I stopped worry about the reach of government once I learned that our attack… er, defense… budget is bigger than the rest of the world’s combined.
We send troops overseas against the will of our Constitution by naming our invasions “missions” rather than wars, enabling us to sidestep our checks and balances. Then we use our wonderful Executive branch dictatorship to strongarm other countries into undermining key peace treaties and environmental regulations, so our corporations can profit at the world’s expense.
But you’re right, those pesky social programs that help people are the big problem. As long as we focus on killing them, it’s ok.

permabearParticipantYou have to be insane to get into bonds right now. They continue to sell off like crazy due to inflationary fears. I would wait a week or so to see what happens personally.
