ParticipantI am sure it is in escrow. My husband and I took a look at it shortly after it was posted here. The place was CRAWLING with people. It is a great opportunity at today’s prices (tomorrow is another matter) as the remodel is underway with the foundations poured for the large additions in the both the front and the back.

ParticipantWait and see what they actually took for 314 E. I know someone who knows someone 🙂 who has had a billybox for sale for a looong time. It has taken so long that he had to put the house he is living in up for sale too. I’m wondering if he is trouble? They may have taken a lot less than 1769000. Further, 856 E might be thinking there is going to be a spring bounce.
PD
ParticipantI think we might see a slight uptick in prices in a few areas but any gains will be given back in the fall, plus some. You can’t discount the stupidity of the herd.

ParticipantA friend told me stories yesterday about two of his friends. One bought a condo here in SD. He just experienced a reset and is in deep trouble because he can’t refinace. The other story was about a friend in another CA city who bought a condo conversion. She came home the other day to discover that it had reverted to apartments.
I had a conversation with anther friend who said that for the first time in years she is hearing, “You are so lucky you’re renting.”
The watercooler talk has started and it won’t be long before everybody knows somebody in trouble.

ParticipantPer Ziprealty, listings in Coronado (92118) hit 200 today! I’ve been getting emails from them daily with new listings in my search range. That is a lot of inventory for this small town. I couldn’t find the thread with the active/pending/sold numbers for this zip. Can anyone direct me there? Months of inventory has got to be well over 8 months.
PD
ParticipantWhat is happening with inventory numbers? Does anybody have a graph tracking both inventory and sales for the last couple of years?

ParticipantConcho, you are ignoring the point. Gore’s statement was similar to a bookstore owner claiming to have written a book authored by someone else. Sure, the bookstore owner was selling the book and maybe even promoting it, but he did not write it. It certaily seems to me that Gore MEANT people to take his statement to mean that he was a CREATOR rather than one of many FACILITATORS. Further, I must question whether the creators were Gore supporters or not. They may have fluffed the truth to make it look like Gore did more than he did (I said “may” so don’t get crazy here).

ParticipantRegardless of what is going on with the weather, we do need to invest in clean technologies.

ParticipantGreat, since there was concensus that we invade Iraq, it must have been the right thing!

Participantucodeden, thank you for your posts. It is nice to see science rather than political or emotionally driven opinion.

ParticipantYeah, he can copy Al Gore. Remember when he claimed to have fathered the internet?
Perry, you had nothing relevant to say regarding global warming so you threw a bunch of mud at Republicans. I’m sorry, I just don’t believe your claims that you were ever anything but a diehard liberal. Further, I do not remember a time when you have presented views other than the liberal party line (unlike me and JG who have have many views that are contrary to the republican party line).

ParticipantGlobal warming does seem to be happening. However, blaming humans exclusively ignores the fact that world’s climate is constantly undergoing change as a natural process. Did humans cause previous warming? No. Did they cause previous cooling? No. We MAY be affecting the climate at this time but it has not been proven that the current warming is not natural (if warming is not natural, the earth would still be covered in ice). Further, if it is natural, there probably is very little that we can do to stop it.
Having said all that, I do think we need to do everything possible to explore energy that does not pollute the earth. We also need to get rid of our dependence on oil because of political reasons.
As for the rest of it, I second sdnativeson.

ParticipantThere is a bit of a stigma attached to being a renter. It doesn’t matter to some people but you can tell that others are a little snooty about it (and try to hide it).

ParticipantI am watching with an eye toward buying in the future. We will not buy, however, if prices do not fall about 30% from the peak. We will move elsewhere.
