ParticipantSlightly off topic but….
I talked to realtor recently in Coronado who said that 75% of his deals in the last few months have been cash or mostly cash. He seemed to think this was bullish. lol! In the next breath he told me how hard it is to get financing and that no one wants a loan over $500k because the interest rates are too high.PD

ParticipantCoronado has gone down a good chunk and will go down further. People speculated here just like everywhere else. I know a number of people who own here and are on the edge. Even people with significant means stretch their finances.
I also know someone who went broke building townhomes in La Jolla at the start of the last bust.
People are still in denial, though. One woman told me that only the “bad” streets in Coronado would go down in value.

ParticipantI had a hair appointment yesterday and my stylist was very open about the fact that she and her hubby are going to do either a short sale or a foreclosure on their condo. She doesn’t care which one so long as they don’t have to pay the 3K mortgage when they can rent for 2K. She told me the loan is going to reset in October and there was no way they were going pay more. They have already stopped paying and she was really happy about the fact that they are saving that money for a future down payment on the next property. She said, “(my husband) has already gotten everything he wanted out of it. He’s got his chopper and some other things.”
