Participant
Her entire brand was based on the idea that she was tough and principled.
If they spin it that she quit because her family couldn’t take it, then she doesn’t come across as tough. If they make her out to be a hero because she’s sacrificing for her family, it would be pretty hard for her to ever get back in the ring.
If they spin it that she quit to prepare for 2012, then it comes across as crafty. Not exactly principled.
If this is part of a strategy, it’s a very poor move.
If the republicans weren’t spiraling right now, I’d say the only possible explanation is that she is just throwing in the towel. But they’ve been making some bizarre decisions lately, so who knows?

Participant
I’m a liberal, and I’m hoping she announces her intentions to run for president. (She won’t any time soon. Too many $25,000 a pop speaking engagements first, which would end with her announcing.) Democrats and liberals aren’t afraid of Sarah Palin. Most consider her a joke. The best thing that could happen for the Dems is for her to win a republican nomination, with her solid 20% support.
I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think another shoe will drop shortly.
I”m a liberal hippie and I hope she runs for President. She would be in a major catfight with the Huckabee faction. It leaves Romney with the mormons and no doubt Giuliani will run as the mayor of 9/11.
I’m not sure why Palin chose to resign.
if she ran for Governor she’d probably win. If she ran for senator she’d have a shot at Displacing Murkowski and winning a National platform.
If she quits, because of a scandal she’ll have nothing.
Now if she rode out a scandal maybe she could survive like Sanford is trying to do.
All i can think is she wants to get on the speaking tour on the life of Trig’s mom and right to life.
Wow….

ParticipantHe’s got between 3-400K in debt and it appears he’s been living with girlfriends, etc his whole life.
If he chooses to buy a house the median 2 BR apt in Manhattan is 1.27M
So Figure he’s looking at 1.7M in debt service. That’s almost 100K/year in Debt Service.
Median First Year Associate salary was running 170K plus 30K bonus.
with pay down, figure it’s 170K now.
add 33% Income tax figure he’s looking at making 100K Net.
So i fhe wants an apartment, he’s looking at living on 10K.
Even if he rents a place it’s still going to be miserable.
