ParticipantPart of the solution is school choice/vouchers.
The article mentions how voters are persuaded to vote for taxes.
In California, think about the % of voters who are welfare queens or directly dependent on the govt – basically Obama voters.
As a group they will always vote for more benefits for themselves, and I believe this group far outnumbers true tax payers.

Participant
If you can manage it, try going to Death Valley as part of a geological field trip. You learn to appreciate everything in a whole new light. Very, very cool stuff there.
Did you tent camp, or what?
BTW, how did you like your camping trip in El Capitan last year?
We did some geo stuff, and I agree even a little geo knowledge goes a long way. In fact, that’s when the kids had the most fun – checking out the lava flows and things like that.
Personally I was looking for tarantulas – I have never seen one in the wild, but I did see plenty of what I thought were Tarantula burrows.
We stayed in a hotel outside of the park (Pahrump).
El Capitan: I’ve read mixed reviews (oil on the beach), but I thought it was a great park. We tent camped there, in a TT I could stay a week easily.

ParticipantI just got back from Death Valley and really enjoyed the trip.
My kids on the other hand, they could care less and were ready to leave as soon as we got there.

Participant
We just bought a trailer at the RV show at Qualcomm Stadium today. Impulsive buy, even though we’ve been thinking about it for years, and I feel like throwing up (HATE spending money like that), but am hoping we will use the heck out of it.

Congrats on your RV purchase CAR…
I sold my TT 2 years ago just because it sat and rarely got used. As you point out the key is to use it, otherwise for me it just became another monthly (storage) bill.
I’m thinking about buying another PUP in the near future and storing it in my garage.
I’ve gotten used to staying in hotels though; in the big picture it’s probably cheaper given the cost of RV’s. But RVing is fun/adventure and that’s the intangible that you don’t get in a hotel room.

ParticipantWait a second – it wouldn’t be the 1st time the fbi got something like this wrong.
They don’t exactly have a great track record.
Brandon Mayfield as one example that comes to mind.

Anyone have any idea what’s going on?
Are the other homes similar in size, etc..?
Housing prices could be cooling based on recent data, particularly pricier properties.

ParticipantMy fist isn’t always shaking.
I’m a busy person, I have better things to do with my time.
Interestingly enough though, my car was vandalized last night – along with a bunch of other cars.
In other news over the weekend apparently the vagas, hells angels and mongols MC Gangs had a showdown in Temecula.
Stabbing’s, etc…
Maybe it is time to move (again).

ParticipantBelieve it or not, while I am friendly to others in my hood for the most part we keep to ourselves.
I’m not even home for at least 12-13 hours daily during the week.
It seems they are rarely home, though I do see many different cars in the driveway and parked on the street.
And as mentioned I am really really concerned about the dogs. My very young children play in our backyard everyday. There is a 5 ft wooden fence that separates them from the dogs.
I’m wondering if a pit bull can jump a 5 ft fence?

Participant
Are you thinking drugs, or what?
I was thinking they were probably trust fund babies or have rich parents (as noted by flu), or maybe have very wealthy boyfriends. How do you know about the dogs?
I know about the dogs because they bark and I can see them from my house.
They could be trust fund babies, since that is the demographic (again, IMO) that most embraces the ghetto lifestyle in a fake way. And that often includes getting a pit bull(s) as part of being a ghetto poser.

Participant
If they think of you as the nice family who are always friendly and waving to them, then if there is ever a problem, you can nicely mention it to them, and they will be much more likely to try to fix things as best as they can.
In a near perfect world I would agree with you CAR. But given that I just moved out of a community that was on the order of 90% renters, to be honest I’ve learned to play hardball.
Again, not all renters are bad, most aren’t.
But I will tell you that in my previous community, with the influx of renters came pit bulls, drugs and drug dealers, crime and much more police attention.

Participant
Are they probably going to party more than you and your family? Yes, most likely.
Party? Based on my understanding they’re not even old enough to buy beer!
Ok, maybe they started the latest craze in origami and are busy amassing a fortune.
Aside from that yes I’m suspicious. Particularly given the fact they have 3 pit-bulls.

Participant
Don’t worry about it unless they do something that compromises your safety and security. You’re a libertarian, right?
Yes, but for most of us IMO there is a natural process to life.
Do you start off driving a BMW 335? No, most of us start off with a beater and work our way up.
The same goes for housing.
If you skip to the front of the line you end up with JBS.

ParticipantOk, I was going to go long on phot. I’m out, I didn’t do as well as most here by selling yesterday, but my overall gain was 160%.
