This is from the UT. Apparently the Mayor thinks living in Santee is like living in La Jolla. Now if we can get him to say that it’s a ten minute commute.

“Mayor Randy Voepel likes to call Santee the La Jolla of East County”
so it is actually less than 10 minutes, because it basically IS La Jolla.
ocrenterParticipant

Indians are not Asians.
Really? What are we then?
apparently you guys are suppose to be caucasians because of the influx of Aryans from the middle east a few thousand years ago. 🙂
ocrenterParticipant
Did people used to say this stuff about the Jews?
The scary thing about that is there are over a billion Asians…

Go look at who’s buying in Del Mar Mesa recently…It ain’t that much better. But Irvine…It has always been fobbietown so I didn’t expect anything else.
That’s just fvcking great….I grew up in H.S. with the “second wave” fobbies from taiwan and korea that were so goddamn tacky and fvcking arrogant…Some of these H.S. punks had mommy/daddy buying them cars and homes nicer than I have now…….Now I get to live around “second wave” fobbies from china, who will probably be equally tacky… Time to dye my hair, inject hormones to change my skin color, change my last name, and start dressing like a punk rocker….
Thank you fvcking america for buying all the crappy shit from China…You did a great job making overseas people rich and fvcking annoying……
yes, I do see a lot of migration down into SD, and more specifically CV (hence CV prices never really went down), but we are still more of a secondary destination compared to LA/OC.
per census data SD added almost 90k Asians from 2000 to 2010. that’s almost a 50% increase in 10 years. all Asian groups grew in numbers except for the Japs. If you look at SD population growth, SD grew from 2.8 million to 3.1 million. so essentially almost 1 out of 3 new SD resident over the 10 year period is Asian. I expect that trend to accelerate.
We are essentially 15 years behind OC as far as the Asian migration and influx. I was priced out in OC, but by moving to SD, I’m ahead of the fobbie peril. may be buying investment houses within the 56 corridor is the way to go given the pending invasion from OC, it is inevitable.
ocrenterParticipant
Well, you might not see it in absolute dollars, but you definitely are buying less with it…
When was the last time you saw a gallon of ice cream instead of the 3 quarts?
that’s a good thing.
ocrenterParticipantSeriously this was the main reason we moved to SD from Irvine. Asians are infamous for driving up real estate prices wherever they congregate. By moving to SD, we are able to buy a house that is less than 1/2 the price of similar home in Irvine, in a neighborhood with higher average income compared to the best area in Irvine. And without the malignant intra-Asian competition on everything from children’s grades in school to the type of car you drive.
As for Melo, looks like he is staying put in NY.
ocrenterParticipantCV, aka Chula Vista, would be the way to go. You can get a panoramic view of TJ and you might just get a bonus private tunnel directly to TJ if you are lucky enough (note: tunnels typically not up to local code standards so you should not contact the city if found).
ocrenterParticipantI have to assume they got the slab crack properly evaluated and was probably determined to be more of a slab canyon. hence the steep discount. afterall, as a rule banks are spending the few thousands to fix up foreclosures, if it was a simple crack they would have taken care of it, no?

I agree, there are ways to cope with inflation. One of those ways it to consume less, and switch to less expensive products.
How about the Costco powder detergent? I use that and it takes me like 2 years to finish the whole bucket. Personally, I don’t like the fragrance in detergent, and I don’t use fabric softener.
Hey, buying 5 containers will help you fight detergent inflation for a decade!
ocrenterParticipant
It looks like it originally sold in 2007 for $780k. then was foreclosed on in Jan 2011. From the notes I posted on sdlookup:
from fidelityasap.com
Sale Status: Sold 01/03/2011
TS Number: 439140CA
ASAP Number: 3841782
Notice of Sale Amt: $686,221.23
Opening Bid Amt: $475,750.00
Sold Amt: $510,000.00So it was bought by a 3rd party. And since it was a trustee sale – that third party didn’t have an inspection clause or anything like that. They got hosed.
Who would have thought a relatively new house on the auction block would have such a big issue. Would have thought this would have been a no-brainer at $510k.
ocrenterParticipant
NC Inland will be added next saturday
Thanks!
ocrenterParticipantsdr, are you taking requests? any chance north county inland can be added? thanks
ocrenterParticipantglad to hear the chemo is working and happy to see you did not have to go the surgical route.
thanks for keeping us updated.

It’s interesting that east poway and stonebridge are 12 degrees apart and they’re only a few miles from eachother. It must be the canyon breeze stonebridge gets. I know the Costco across the canyon gets pretty breezy.
Weather underground shows wind speed of 20 mph for SB vs 9 mph for East Poway. Ha, the slurpee theory has been disproven!
