I’d say gays are already over the hump of being accepted and as noted above it’s just a matter of some old people with fossilized attitudes dying out. Personally I recall kids in NYC in the 70s being way ahead of the curve in gay acceptance me included. Not bragging personally. It was just the city vibe and having so many gay friends some mightve thought me gay.
The next frontier is recognizing pedophiles as human beings not monsters and somehow integrating them into society while keeping children safe.
I have no problems saying it has took me a while to accept the gay marriage idea. Of course, the more genetic and evolutionary evidence helped push me into the pro category.
Have not seen any evolutionary evidence for pedophiles yet. My solution is chemical or surgical castration. You remove the driver of that desire, which is the testosterone, and these folks can be incorporated fully into society without any problems.

Take a bird couple. They end up having 4 chicks. If there’s just the two parent birds, perhaps 2 of the chicks survive. Each of the surviving chicks carry 1/2 of a parent’s genes, so each bird only passes down his or her genes x1.
Now, let’s say the 4 chicks have a gay uncle bird that helps out with food gathering and defense. All of the 4 chicks survive. Each of the parent bird now passes down genes x 2. Even the gay uncle bird indirectly will pass down his genes x1.
See the survival advantage?
It might be different now, but when I went to HS, 9th grade honor English covers the EXACT same material as regular 12th grade English. I was lazy in 12th grade and didn’t want to take AP English so i coasted with regular English. Turns out, I have the exact same teacher and reading the exactly the same book I did in 9th grade. So, needless to say, it was a super easy A, but back then, there was a HUGE differences between honor vs regular.
since we are on a roll with racial stereotypes, you were lazy?!!! I seriously question your Asian credential! π

Hey, schools, prostitutes, stocks, RE- all better topics than politics : )
From now on, if I don’t have an answer, I think, I’m just going to ask…..
What would Ron Paul do? :)
RP would make sure the school form AP caucuses, students will be voted into the various caucuses to take the AP test. as the AP caucuses are representative of the whole student body, essentially 100% of the school have participated in the AP process.
But here’s also the twist. Students voted in to take AP English will be switched to take AP Spanish and so on, just so it would be more democratic.
ocrenterParticipantI agree with flu. something’s off.
I’ve always been an advocate that San Marcos High is up and coming and I am happy to see the improvement.
But I really wonder about the number.
How in the world do they get 100% of the kids to take the AP test. someone has been tweeking their policies to maximize their ranking.
ocrenterParticipantThe issue at hand is we may be looking at law of unintended consequence here.
walfare seemingly protects the poor, but it also breeds dependency and entitlement as well as paradoxical anger at the hands that feed them.
The classic example is the homeowner living rent free for the last 3-4 years as they fight foreclosure. The system is giving them a handout in the form of free rent. but these guys are sicker and angrier the longer they stay in the pending foreclosure. in the end, they hate the bank even though they got tens of thousands of benefit in free rent.
I agree with brian, let the Tea Party get their wish. it is what is right and it is what is just.
ocrenterParticipant

Interesting idea. So, you can get a primary resident loan, seal up that wall, and voila, you have a 1 bedroom apartment to rent out. The number might work out very well if you rent out that “apartment”.
Best part is you’ll be able to charge LJ adjacent rent!
I’m actually seriously interested in this design and wonder if it’ll catch on. Especially in more desirable areas. Imagine for a second, a 3000 sq-ft house in Carmel Valley current selling for $800k, downing 20% and getting a 30 year fixed FHA loan, your payment would be around $3800. That 1 bedroom + garage apartment can easily rent out for at least $1600 if not $1800. So, in essence, you get to live in your 2200-2400 sq-ft house with net payment of ~$2k. That’s unheard of in an area like Carmel Valley.
It would pencil out nicely, except rent does have to include utilities. It is almost like the good old days of building a casita in the backyard and renting it out, except the builder already did it for you 90% of the way. I do wonder about how the neighbors would feel about it. I suppose since the tenant will have his or her own garage, it wouldn’t matter too much. The income would be under the table as well…
Hey flu, found a tax lopehole for you! π

Sky Ranch Owner, are you selling your house? π
ocrenterParticipantCity of SD, 13000 sqft, pool/spa, all drip irrigation. Lawn is green all year round (artificial). $200 every 2 month.

Don’t complain about a Caucus process established in another state, move there and vote to change it if it is important instead of compalining about it. I wouldn’t expect Californians to know anyway..
that’s not my point.
the point is the only way Dr. Paul is even getting anywhere is to take advantage of the archaic caucus process that is essentially undemocratic. you know this is true. now I frankly have no problem with this since Mitt is also armed with bags of money from SuperPACs.
just don’t even try to justify this with your righteousness and about how people that disagree are ignorant.

But what I really want to see is the “Ron Paul wins a state that actually has carries any weight” thread.
EXACTLY!!!

I’m pretty sure this shows the voter apathy. Caucuses have been in place in these states for years and the people know their votes are straw votes. They could show up for a few extra hours if it was important to them. They voted to put this democratic system in place. An eductated voter would trade his time in for “voting” in the straw poll and go vote in their local caucus.
By labeling the average primary voter as “apathetic” and “ignorant” of the “real process”, this is just your way of justifying what is really a very undemocratic underhanded way of getting an extreme viewpoint of a fringe minority onto the stage of a major political party.
May 2, 2012 at 7:50 AM in reply to: Ron Paul Wins Alaska and Washington State + Several State GOP Chairman Positions #742635ocrenterParticipantThis is so hilariously undemocratic. Essentially invalidating the votes of millions of primary voters’ right.
But who cares, the whole process is so rigged with the millionaire dominated SuperPACs that I actually find myself cheering for this little underhanded strategy.
