ParticipantI listened to the same interview today in whole and I didn’t get anything negative out of it.
the freelance thing is really just a way to say “involuntary temperary part time jobs.” as for 2-3 jobs. that simply means most employers out there are trying their best to game the system by making sure their employees stay “part-time” and therefore they are not on the hook for benefits. think of it this way, I would rather hire two part timers each at 20 hours a week instead of a full time worker working 40 hours.
as for getting on her parent’s insurance. I think otherwise in the great majority of cases, the young adult would have simply gone without insurance. something catestrophic comes along and it’ll be on our dime.

Participanta lot of homes in 91914 and 91915 are all 50% off peak. that seem like the norm there.
maybe another 10% down? to get to 60% off peak. but how long is the wait for that extra 10% off? especially with interest rate already so low.
certainly there’s enough inventory there that one should not rush into things and take all the time one needs. but if someone finds that perfect house that’s already 50% off peak, it is going to be hard to hold off for that potential additional 10%.

I chuckle every time someone looking for a Carlsbad home says : “but that’s in the San Marcos school district…”[/quote]
Hey, maybe in a few years, it would be, “but that’s in the Carlsbad school district…”
from what I gathered a few years ago when looking for homes in Carlsbad, it seemed Carlsbad unified was underfunded and overcrowded. A new high school was badly needed but for some administrative red tape issues never build. Some even said CUSD gave up the eastern portion of the city to SMUSD temporarily simply because it couldn’t handle the influx of students and SMUSD made sure that become permanent.
I’m sure some of the above is just rumors, perhaps Carlsbad folks would give their input on the state of CUSD?
