Participant“It’s unfortunate that some left because of differences in point-of-view with respect to religion and politics.”
I agree. Sometimes, like now, I feel bad about this since I was, at times very ornery with JG. Logic kicks in and I think, if someone is going to be discouraged from participating on a housing blog because of politics and religion, maybe they are too wrapped up in their views on politics and religion. Also I assume that if someone can dish it out they can take it. He could have also left for reason completely unrelated to the fussing and fighting. Maybe he realized he needed to calm down and had to quit “cold turkey”.
I think Perry got a worse deal but even he could be here if he wanted to be. If he was using his real name it is easy to understand why he might leave in the face of the abuse he was handed.
Some people have come and gone because they were not making enough money from the blog IMO.

ParticipantHas anyone else heard about this? Why would our govt do this? Isn’t the republican party in support of less govt and letting the market run it’s own path?
It is called Fat Cat capitalism. The socialist aspects coming from this party are just a result of trickle down economic theory. Ketchup is a vegetable too.

Participant“Hence the age-old rule of thumb not to buy unless you plan to be there 5-7 years. ”
Some posters have made a good point that this should be thrown out the window and not just because of our current situation.
Radelow. What you did sounds like a lot of fun.
I was looking for bar stools on craig’s list and put an offer on some nice ones. The person raised the price because I bid too fast. Turns out to be realtor. I told her that since I actually meant to bid less than I really did and that we should compromise and do the deal at my original bid. She left them there at the higher price and never sold them. Eventually she dropped the price to just $25 over what I offered. I bet she never sold them. There was a busted fsbo sign laying in the driveway in the photo of the chairs. My guess is that she didn’t even want to pay a cooperating broker to sell her house and couldn’t sell it either. Ironic isn’t it :).NotCranky
