ParticipantGod is going to punish me for getting up on a soap box and trolling. I know it. Shit! WHy didn’t God punish Jesus for getting up on a soap box? Instead he puts him in charge of wether we get to Heaven in the afterlife , or not, not fair.

An even slightly obsessive goal or value of longevtiy is not very high on the level of goodness scale in God’s eyes. It quickly cripples one’s usefulness. The goal of longevity is good and attaining it is something to celebrate but it is not good morals to be too occupied with it.
I don’t have all the answers… but it seems like everything in life that we define as success requires work and preoccupation.
Actually, it’s not an occupation for me as it’s a way of life. I don’t find it hard or work at all. And I don’t miss, nor desire what other people enjoy.
You talk about it like it’s a badge of honor makes you one -up, you pretty frequently remind us of how good you are at your influence on your longevity and how bad other people are at it …so I don’t believe you.

ParticipantHere’s the problem, Too many people have selfishly internalized the frequent wise admonition to “enjoy life” to be a synonym with the also wise and frequent admonition to “enjoy yourself” . So few spend the time “enjoying life” which could be a lot of time and instead a lot that time money and energy goes to wishing for and trying to enjoy themselves to fill the void and in the mean time slip into depression or anxiety about why they are not “enjoying themselves”, that’s why we have an epidemic of depression and all kinds of disorders. That sex, meal, trip or new toy didn’t really make me enjoy life truly because it can’t do that. We have then become desperate accidental hedonists or losers without the means to enjoy life( not in kingdom of heaven space at all), to varying degrees of course.

If your goal is longevity, it’s physical therapy a little at a time.
If the goal of weight lifting is to look buff when you’re young, then let it go to crap as you age, then it’s all in vain.
ParticipantMeek shall inherit the earth just means that ego trips won’t get you to the kingdom of heaven(metaphor for enjoying life) , nor will making money be your guiding principal…rich men and eye of needle. Not that some Rich men don’t get through that eye….It’s just really hard if you love money more than anything and everything else. These things are self-evident taken on their own…not getting too caught up in dogma.
It’s hard for a coward to get to the kingdom of heaven, or a anxiety ridden person or a bully. Rich men are just one case shouldn’t get blown out of proportion.
I see lots of people with money , could have gotten it fast or slowly doesn’t matter, who appear to be as inept as me at having enjoyment of life. Only abject poverty and lack of health options are real burdens.

ParticipantThe kingdom of heaven is best employed as a metaphor for enjoying life or at least being on the correct vibe. That is the only reasonable conclusion. Weight lifting can help with that but it’s probably not really a very high on the level of goodness in Gods judgement …unless it’s for physical therapy or something like that.

ParticipantAnyone who puts all their afterlife eggs in one basket will never have any credibility again. That’s just foolish.
Of course, there is that chance that by kissing up to all G-ds I piss off the right one and he definitely doesn’t give me the good afterlife I was hoping for….I hope you have considered that , SC.

ParticipantGoing with what you said about religions, svelte,All systems of social convention are bizarre , religion is just one of them, Perhaps a bit more anachronistic than say the system and trappings of a powerful modern secular nation state but at most a tiny bit more bizarre. Religious societies are not more ego based than the “separation of church and state” USA, for instance. We just aren’t all that no matter how we try to frame things.
And yet these nation states, and institutions within, lead most of us by the nose….to terrible waste and tragedy often.

ParticipantI might lose sleep over wether or not this thing is going to be sincere. It’s gotta be sincere.
We are charging 10 bucks to get in the door to guarantee at least a limited amount of sincerity ….tithing comes after that. Don’t forget the tip jar on the way out.

ParticipantSincere worship ….just in case!
We should throw in a few more greats …just in case they become prophets in the future. Mr Bean? George Carlin? PeeWee Herman’s out right? We need some funny Gods…Stoned gods too, like Bob, funny and stoned would be even better. I’ll ask my kid if we can have a Funny and Stoned Worship day…just in case.
We should have Gods for kids, Thomas the Train “preachin’ it” …Builder Bob, Hello Kitty maybe Dora the Explorer …they are probably all virgins so they’re in. If my kid says they are.
