Participantshabu-shabu is served at some of the Korean-owned Japanese restaurants called “Ichiro” in SD. There’s one on Convoy and one on the east end of Mira Mesa Blvd in the plaza near “play it again sports”. It’s OK but you can easily do it yourself at home as well.

ParticipantNost, I'm out of this thing. I wish you and Marion many happy years together. Now where did I put that library book?
Just when I thought my stars were in alignment! Was it the Chihuahua? I knew I should have said I had a Great Dane. π

ParticipantShabu shabu! That’s a fun thing to eat with friends. It literally translates as “swish swish” because of the swishing sound made when you swish the food through the boiling water… Man I haven’t had that since I was in Japan and not many places in SD serve it! There are other things you can’t find around either: Okonomiyaki, steaming amazake on a cold night, or a nice, hot bowl of oden! I’m doing that thing Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) did when he was going pfffff–fff-f-f-fff lecherously.
OK. As soon as I get back to SAN from DEN I will need to book a flight to NRT.
