Participant
”alcohol is an acquired taste, so try to acquire a taste for the cheap stuff”….
somewhat OT from the OT of this thread, but apolitical, is the question of why Temecula wines are so high. I WANT to buy temecula wines but just cannot because theya re too expensive. i can get great stuff from EUROPE cheaper than temecula. what’s up with that? is it real estate prices?
hahaa, my thinking exactly. If a person was told from the beginning that the $2/bottle taste was the best, then that $2-wine would be selling for $100 a bottle and vice versa now.

ParticipantI got a bottle of Chardonnay for $2 at Stater Brothers the other day. You read it right–$2 bucks. On one hand it shows you how cheap I am :); on the other hand, I’m simply no wine snob and am blessed with a nondiscriminating palate. I think we’re the most manipulated generations of human history and the quality difference in wines is mostly marketing.
Try the $2 and $100 wines side by side and tell me if you can tell the difference, or if the difference is worth $98.

Participant“but there is no place that compares with SD and esp. Pt. Loma!”
The sunshine was great the first few months after we moved here. But now I’m getting sick of the constant sun, which is boring and conveys no sense of the passing of time (maybe that’s why some like it :)). I miss the change of seasons badly.
