ParticipantYou getting psoriasis? Pine tar and coal tar typically are used to treat skin problems. I’ve used some coal tar in the past for it. Nasty but works.
For a natural soap, I’ve be using Dr. Bronners magic 4 in 1. So mainstream now Target carries it. It’s a pretty simple liquid Castile soap. Use the peppermint to get that morning jolt.

Participant
This is why I am fascinated by companies who never lay people off. They find ways to reallocate and retrain those “resources” to new tasks. Like you find a way to reuse your old phone for your kid to play android games, etc…instead of tossing it out. This is sometimes done at the executive suite to train up and coming C-level folks to do global tasks, but would be nicer if thought about more throughout more companies.
There’s this constant complaint in the tech industry (and I’ve worked in it in the past) that there isn’t enough tech folks.
The reality is that with the way how tech works, unless you learn the current/latest stuff, you’re old news and useless to the company. There is VERY LITTLE desire at a lot of companies to get workers exposed to different technologies, current stuff, give them time to learn new things, etc…Just do your basic task and don’t bother me.
Some companies are better about this, but I suppose ultimately, it’s more profitable to just fire and hire.
One of the most know of those is SAS analytics. A key to it is not being a publically traded company. Once a firm IPOs and is on the financial markets, they have to make quarterly targets. The stock market isn’t about investments, it’s about growth and that’s all the market values today. 40 years ago, a good solid dividend, confidence in your cash flow, that ruled. Today, it’s just the growth anybody cares about.

ParticipantYou live in the USA, you’ll probably drive a car today. From a probability standpoint, the odds of you getting killed by a car crash TODAY exceed your odds of dying from ebola this year.
In fact, even though you’re in San Deigo, you have roughly 3X the chance of being struck and killed by lightning.

ParticipantTotal worldwide infection is around 9000, total deaths are around 4400 with Ebola outbreak running since March of this year.
We don’t want to stick our head in the sand, but the media drumbeat paranoia that has people panic whenever anbody sneezes is overdone.

I find the publishing of the names to be tacky. Unfortuately, it’s probably the easiest way for people to relate it to what they know and experience.
The amount of non-compliance in reporting by the government agencies is insulting.
Overall it’s enlightening. The majority are just taking a straight up retirement, a well compensated retirement, but clearly weren’t ‘gaming’ the system. A sizable component though aren’t.
The lump sum payments are stunning.
I like some of the notes like on #3 from LAPD. Pension includes one time payment of $652,269.93
I’m assuming #1, from San Deigo has something similar in getting over $785K in a single year.

I still can’t believe that they are trying to claim that she didn’t intend to harm the victim via her “forcible sex” ads. She is a filthy parasite. Best to get her off the streets. She is no less harmful than any other rapist.
If she went to that extreme on not buying a house, what did she do on every little slight she received in the office or the neighbors over the last 20 years?

Participant

What if we all just had one bowl, one cup, one set cutlery.
And we just each washed it when done?
That would be nice in theory, but can you imagine your kids doing that after every meal? How about dinner guests? And all the cooking utensils?
Having lived with a lot of roommates in the past, I can say for a fact that very few people clean up after themselves completely. Maybe I can add that to my “pet peeve” list. ;)
That’s the extended adolescence that Americans live in permenanty now.
It was the norm up until about the 70s. Kind of like taking the bus to school or walking or riding your bike to school.

ParticipantIt’s going to resolve itself the same way any significant health issue resolves itself that you ignore, like being too fat, eating poorly and not exercising.
We wil either wake up one day and address it and start making improvements, eating better, putting the cigs down, and exercising. Or we won’t. There are some signs we
Ve taking baby steps in addressing the blatant problemsWhen the bubble burst Cali had its first heart attack. We’ve made some changes but I give it 50/50 odds we just go back to the old patterns of financial management and political graft

ParticipantCrony capitialism and the hegemony created through campaign contribution from special interests. Leon Musk springs to mind with the recent massive deal to exploit Nevada and the politicians willingness to sell everything out to garner votes

ParticipantInterestingly there are articles out today about use of body cameras by police citing a Cambridge study of a year long trial in Rialto, CA
Putting cameras on officers reduced the number of incidents in which force was used by 59%. The number of complaints about force fell an even greater amount
IMHO. The results would be the about the same elsewhere if the cops knew they were being recorded. It’s the same reason the LAPD had such a high degree of disabled antennas on their recorders for the car. Te police don’t want to be recorded because them whatever they say is assume to be true
We are trusting them with a gun and a decision to potentially kill someone having a camera to verify isn’t too much too ask

Participant
If you take a C student and move them to CV it’s not going to automatically make him/her an A student.
He/she has to want it.
No, like Irvine, his or her parents have to want it to keep up with the rest of the parents in paying for the tutors, SAT prep and kimono (okay I’m not going to correct that autocorrect) courses
Irvine schools test great but the reality is the majority of the school is actually privately taught even in public school since they have such a heavy tutoring and prep camp load
As for ferguson it’s coming. The militarization of police has one end. When you’re a hammer everything looks like a nail. The police are militarized and you are an enemy combatant. The Department of Education has it’s own SWAT teams.
Just ask Kelly Thomas

ParticipantThat’s a smart dude SK. Disconnecting from the marketing machine is becoming critical. He’s in internet marketing so he gets it.
It’s a shame people don’t realize the value and power of the information they’re giving away on Facebook et al.
