ParticipantSears is not the store that it once was. Last time I was there, about a month ago, it was to exchange a craftsman socket wrench, first time I’ve ever taken advantage of the lifetime gaurantee on Craftsman tools. Well they tried to give me a used one from the service counter, but couldn’t find one that worked I guess. Went back to the tool dept picked out a new one (old one said made in USA, new one just said USA on it). Anyway I got my socket wrench and even though it was as heavy, it just seemed cheaper somehow. While I was there waiting I was noticing the prices on the hand tools and I have to say I would not shop there unless it was a sale price. I am shocked that they are still in business, but it will be sad when they close their doors as they are trully an American Icon. It is interesting to note that sears holdings on the NASDAQ almost exactly follows the housing prices over the last 7 years.

ParticipantAre you serious! This is one of the first times I’ve thought about not voting. At first I did like what Meg Whitman had to say, then I listened more. I don’t recall having any fond memories of Jerry and by the way he talks I’m sure he is suffering from brain dammage due to drug use probably. The props don’t really pull at my heart either. Although I don’t back prop D, I can’t say I’ll be upset if it passes either.

ParticipantThat’s how the rich stay rich. They make their money whether you do or you don’t (refi that is). When they sell the loan there is probably a 6 month term written in saying they cannot cancel the loan (this way the people buyiny the loan get their money (in interest charges) before any real risk is assumed. So the mortgage broker is making money off you and the person they are selling the loan to. Not a bad deal eh! That’s why there are so many of them advertising all the time. This is why I get so pissed off when I can’t get ahold of them by phone, because I know how much money they are potentially going to make off me.

ParticipantI’m betting that rates will drop again. But what do I know. That’s why I’m waiting to refi. Maybe after the elections the fed will do what they say they will do. My guess is that the rates may not stay down long, maybe 3-6 months. Of course someone can always ressurect this thread in May of 2011 and we will see if I am right or not!
