are way nicer than Vista and San Marcos. And I really dont care if there are overpriced villas in Vista. It sucks there. I would rather have a smaller place in coastal area.

Of all the crappy dump places to live in San Diego, I recall one time how he told listeners on KOGO AM that he bought a while ago in Vista and how he was proud of his investment. Now that is nothing to be proud of- to own in a dump like Vista or Oceanside is like bragging about owning property in Golden Hill or East LA or the ghetto! Yeah he is getting ancy and I look forward to the day that he gets the boot from radio. He is mean arrogant and a jerk!
Now here is one thing that bothers me. I have a friend who works at KOGO as a newsreporter. She actually says that Chowderhead is a nice guy in person off the record.

Which is great! About time the jerk gets a taste of his own bitter medicine! He is the biggest crybaby I have ever heard on the radio! He even said “Well if people want to think real estate is so bad then DONT buy a house I dont care! Maybe I am a dumb guy but I dont care”.
He was bitter and anger and shaken. About time. NOW I would like to see Rich debate the punk on KOGO. I know that chowderhead would lose hands down. But given that KOGO is owned by the SD realtors and construction companies it would never take place. Then chowderhead had a guy on who bought real estate in 1960 and made tons of money. Well duh! It was dirt cheap back then.

mixxalotParticipantFunny but my rent has stayed almost same for last 3.5 years.
I moved to San Diego in end of 2003. My rent in Point Loma was
$1100 per month for a nice bedroom near the beach. I just renewed my lease for another 15 months at very slight increase in rent to $1200 per month. Considering that my rent only increased by $100 over 3.5 years is not bad. Real estate is still way overpriced compared to rents here in San Diego. No way in hades would I pay 4k per month for a 1-2 bedroom shack condo. I am waiting for the bubble to continue its slow leak.

I checked out the new iPhones on display recently at the Apple Store this weekend in Fashion Valley. While the touch screen and video is nice I dont like an all touch screen phone with no keypad. My fat fingers had a tough time dialing numbers! That and the phone is waaay overpriced. Heck I can pick up a laptop PC for same money. I like the Windows Pocket PC phones with touch screens and keypads a lot better and they are $300 cheaper as well.
Also read in paper on how many suckers who bought the iPhone had issues with getting their iPhones activated! Must really suck if you pay $600 for a phone and cant use it, huh? Nah I say wait a few more years and see what happens. The phone is maybe worth $150 but definitely not worth $600 for the price they are charging people for it.

I feel your pain. I have to have major dental work performed and insurance covers little of the massive 10k in work to be performed so that I do not lose the teeth in my mouth. I get tax benefit but its a drop in the bucket. I renewed my lease for 15 months at least my rent has only increased by 10 bucks in past 2.5 years. Housing will drop in San Diego. It must- because the salaries and economics do not support the run up in prices. I make a good salary but not enough for a modest 2-3 bedroom home here. I may need to move out of California to a cheaper state or country place to afford a house in 2009 or 2010.

mixxalotParticipantCoastal property in Brazil and Venezuela is dirt cheap so I dont buy the whole runup in price for Kalifornia real estate coastal property. It has always been overvalued and overpriced.
Yes- Oroville is not San Diego. My point being that if you can work from home and travel from airport to client site it does make financial sense to live cheaper and save until market tanks in southern california then buy at lower price point.
