ParticipantTrue but how to get access to MLS without agent? Anyways I agree its better to search on your own to get best deal and make offer.

ParticipantThank god I graduated 25 years ago from UCD when it was cheap and easier to get admitted.

ParticipantRoger that! I gave the loan lady my paperwork today and my FICO is excellent. Hopefully I can lock in a low 30 year mortgage rate and start shopping. My lease is up in 2-3 months.

ParticipantPersonally, I cannot stand any of the candidates running. All of them really suck bad for different reasons. I wish a viable third party candidate like John McAfee or Jessie Ventura had a realistic shot at winning! Right now, the US election races are a two party oligarchy corrupted by special interests, and bought and paid for my Wall Street bankers and foreign oligarchs like the Saudi government.

Participantclose to Montgomery airport and Pacific Beach/Point Loma.

ParticipantTrue but Bonita/CV is FAR from most other places north coastal San Diego. If I was retired then I’d buy beach front place in IB.
I’d be happy 1500-2000 square foot nice real hardwood floors, big kitchen, bathroom and room!

ParticipantTotally agree better to build the BBQ pit and find deal on portable energy efficient hot tub. I like nice big kitchen, big bathroom and real wood floors.

ParticipantTrue bearishgurl,
I am not much of a handyman thats my dad but I can learn some stuff to survive. Agree on the pool. A jacuzzi spa would be nice and a decent bbq pit. I do want a turnkey property to move in to. Its a big demand but can be achieved well at least most of what I hope to find. You’re right Clairemont homes are small and expensive. I saw nice places being built in El Cajon this past weekend at KB Homes but thats a ways to drive.

ParticipantThank you bearishgurl for the great insights! I have a dumb question what do some of the acronyms mean like LM, LV, CV, and LG?
Fortunately I have time to look and find what I want in terms of location and quality construction. While having a pool and spa is nice, I’d rather have real wood floors, high end kitchen with nice granite tops and wood cabinets not the crap I see in a lot of places and nice big bathroom with a nice sunken tub! Views are important to me since I work from home and the quality of life working from home is increased by a nice office view from out the home windows! I would love to own a coastal property like La Jolla, Del Mar or Solana Beach but unless I win the Powerball that won’t happen anytime soon.
Since I am a single guy, any size between 1500-2000 square foot with big garage is fine. I live in a tiny crowded 600 square foot apartment and need room for my workshop and toys. I was just in Bonita this morning and had never been there before and was surprised at how nice it is. However, I am a pilot and do fly planes out of Montgomery and Gillespie field for fun besides sailing and scuba diving so a good strategic location as home base is important. I also want my real estate to eventually increase in value so a good growth potential is key besides living in a safe and walkable community.

ParticipantSo is Serra Mesa a decent area of San Diego to live and buy a home? Or is it a ghetto? I notice that Point Loma portal area on W Point Loma Blvd has been going downhill with a flood of crazy homeless people in the area.

ParticipantI put off the boat purchase for the time being since its cheaper renting from the local sailing club and I need more room. I am single and looking for 3-4 bedroom SFH 2000 square foot on large sized lot with privacy, decent sized garage and yard. Ideal location close to beach and job centers even though right now I work from home. So Oceanside/Carlsbad/Encinitas way too far for me. Would like best weather and I do know that Santee/El Cajon/La Mesa can get HOT in summer time.
At the same time, I don’t want to live in a bad ghetto area where I have to worry about my home being robbed and my car stolen.

ParticipantWeird weather with lot of thunder storms and crappy weather this past few weeks in San Diego due to El Nino!

ParticipantI know a guy who commutes daily from Dana Point to San Diego for work! Now that is pure insanity!

ParticipantI quit playing lotto after years of never winning even $5.
