Call it heresay if it makes you feel better or safer.
I don’t put too much stock in that doomsday clock (well maybe being that we are at three minutes now). This is what I think got us to that point today
https://www.thelocal.de/20161008/russia-tension-more-dangerous-than-in-cold-war-fm
So is Syria worth it?
Syria isn’t worth it for us, and we probably shouldn’t be there…unless our actions help to create a quicker and more amenable outcome. This being said, if history is any indicator it will most likely have the opposite affect.
millennialParticipant

you say the world almost ended several times in the 50’s and 60’s, but at least the weapons were accounted for.
It is fairly well documented the few times we were minutes from launch (Cuba comes to mind as the most well documented case) October 14, 1962 – October 28, 1962
Not all were accounted for as well (I am sure Russia has a lot of stories).

That said My parents were fairly good to me as well, but generally we were on our own (free range kids) and had to stick up for ourselves.
I’m sure you’re familiar with the doomsday clock. Based on this the world was never closer than 2 minutes to midnight and that’s when USSR and the US initially tested the device. The other stuff might be true but it’s all heresay. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doomsday_Clock
millennialParticipant
Having kids who are Millennials, we’ve found it interesting that they feel we helped them create lives they love just as we, as Boomers, and most people we know have, so it’s nice to know that not everyone in any given generation is disenchanted with their lives.
That’s very nice flyer. My parents and I are very happy with our lives as well.millennialParticipant
We have not won a war since WWII,
We don’t do well in other people’s civil wars, We do better letting them be and showing how good freedom is, they join us eventually.
I agree. I don’t blame people for hating America for us going in and messing with their country. I probably wouldn’t like it much if Russia came here and started messing with us. We have enough problems here we can fix instead.

millennialParticipant
With all of the promises being made, and criticism of past generations, it will be interesting to see how things go for our country in the coming years under new leadership.
Although I think changes will be made, contrary to popular delusion, I don’t think most of them will actually make much of a difference in the lives of the voting masses, so, not too long from now, Gen Z forward may well be blogging about their crappy predecessors. Time will tell.
Yes it will be interesting who comes forward in the next election. We’ll probably end up with a social media icon who will be able to reach the masses via tweets and Snapchat. Maybe instead of showing up to the polls we can just “Like” a candidate instead. Maybe even further, we’ll have an actual robot instead of the hypothetical robots we have right now.
millennialParticipant
Your right it’s our fault
http://time.com/3154186/millennials-selfish-entitled-helicopter-parenting/
Millennials the most coddled generation in american history and it’s our fault.
That’s pretty much what that opinion article states. That it’s your fault!millennialParticipant
You should have been around in the 70’s to see what we inherited LOL,
People were scared to smoke next to the rivers in the mid-west, they were afraid they would catch fire LOL.everyone was encouraged to smoke BTW even doctors LOL.
I am no trump fan but Hillary and John Kerry scare the cr#p out of me as well with the games they are playing with Russia.
We should get out of the Mid-east not get deeper IMO.
The world almost ended several times in the 50’s and 60’s. came very close to all out nuclear war. These Guys are playing an even more dangerous game where Russia and American forces may be actually exchanging fire.
Have you watched the documentary Gasland on Netflix? Pretty scary, but we are still having similar problems. Not only that, but you have people in Flint drinking water with lead in it.
You’re right about Hillary and she’s a Boomer too. Also George W. Bush who sent us to the middle east again after his father couldn’t finish the job. You say that the world almost ended several times in the 50’s and 60’s, but at least the weapons were accounted for.
millennialParticipant
Millennial, you will enjoy this article. Boomers created Trump. Gen X are the cleanup crew
I enjoyed it, thanks for sharing! The article was slightly biased, but pretty much hit my viewpoints right on.

Can you get any old Verizon/Westell unit, put in the correct authentication info and return their device?
Re: Time Warner. If I go to their site and put in a San Diego address, they’re now ONLY showing the 100 Mbps package for new subscriptions. $40/mo with or without modem rental. They charge extra for WiFi for some dumb reason though, even though routers are about $40.
Did they upgrade everyone to 100, and why is 300 not available?
I’m not sure if they offer 300, I just signed up from ATT and they said $39.99, but they also charged $35 for the initial installation fee (I think you can get around it if you already have equipment to setup yourself). I didn’t sign up for the wifi since I have a separate wifi router for that. Anyways, the guy that came just called and unlocked the wifi access and I was able to get it for free (usually about $5 a month).

Now, the only real choices is between ATT and cable companies.
That is all.
Um, didn’t the news just announce the “mega-merger” AT&T buyout of Time Warner.
I thought that was for the TW cable company, which is separate from their Ethernet (which is now Spectrum).
BTW, just switched over to Spectrum from ATT and am very happy. I have download speeds of up to 100 MBPS (recent clock test was 60 MBPS) for only $39.99. No contracts and cable box rental fee are required.
Only downside from ATT is due to the drag wireless has on the download speeds. I’m not sure if this is because it’s cable vs. dsl. Either way, wasn’t affected since my home has DSL ports installed in most rooms which go to my main hub downstairs.
millennialParticipant
For now it sounds like the SD county restaurants are safe. It’s a pretty decent place to take my 4 year old; he can pick what he will actually eat from a lot of relatively healthy choices, and the price isn’t awful with a coupon. I do often end up filling up on bread and baked potatos, but some of the soups are really nice.
Protip for those complaining about the lack of meat: the bacon you can put on the loaded potatos can also go on salads, in soup, etc!
Just got a coupon in my email box for 50% off. For tonight only.
millennialParticipantWorst presidential race in my lifetime.
millennialParticipantLike all these politicians who’s sole purpose in life is to take from the productive and those doing good-will for society. If they keep it up, there will be little incentive for the smart people from overseas to keep coming, let alone keeping the ones we have here.
