Participant

Rudy Giuliani’s presidential campaign released a radio ad last week in which the candidate praised American health care for curing him of prostate cancer and wondered what might have happened to him under the socialized medicine practiced in the United Kingdom , where survival rates for that condition are far lower.
Why is the comparison with socialized medicine even part of this discussion? It’s benefits and drawbacks notwithstanding, nobody has proposed socialized medicine.
The whole goal of the insurance reform of the type that is being proposed (public option) is to get us to a single payer system (socialized care). It’s right out there in the open for anyone willing to pay attention.

Participant
I also have a hunch that the people opposing the tyranny of soda tax fully support the tyrrany against other things — drinking a cold one on the beach, public display of boobs, enjoying a spliff, taking your own life. Just a hunch.
Absolutely! How many of you voted FOR the beach booze ban? Applauded the ban on smoking in city parks and beaches? Cheered when taxes on alcohol and tobacco were increased…again and again?
You might all want to familiarize yourselves with the poem “First They Came”. It is VERY relevant. You’ve shown the politicians again and again that they can take away the rights of others and you won’t make a peep. It’s only a matter of time until they take something away that YOU care about but by then it will be too late to do anything about it.

Participant
Meadandale,
I think they had already paid something for the box and he was holding that money hostage. Something like extortion. You can’t have your money back and he won’t take the strawberries he claims are in excess of those paid for back. I would have definitely found a fair solution and forced it upon him.
That’s why I always ask “How much?” before handing over a penny. When he tried to up the price I’d have walked.
Shady people like this suck…

ParticipantI’d just refuse to pay and leave ALL the strawberries at his feet and walk off. If he tried to detain you I’d call the police.
Sometimes you just have to stand up for yourself, regardless of whether it makes your visitor uncomfortable or ‘colors’ their vacation enjoyment.
