Participantyeah, I saw something about this in the wsj this a.m. I really think this is so short-sighted – like any firm with their position can turn things around in 1 quarter???? Didn’t they take 11B in write-downs? Isn’t Mozillo under investigation? Aren’t there more major ARM re-sets coming????

ParticipantSo now we know: 4closure ranch homes have a better chance of making it if there’s another big fire. Great. Just the type of information buyers need to know. But honestly, until this major emergency, 4closure ranch was just as it’s nickname so aptly states.
That whole community is still going to lose a ton of equity in the coming years. And counting on national disasters to help keep that equity alive is completely bird-brained at the least.

ParticipantI don’t know why you think you can single-handedly change market psychology for your neighborhood via this ‘fire argument’ when pretty much everyone has been calling it 4closure ranch.
I’m not sure if you realize it, but you are starting to sound really desperate.

ParticipantThat’s interesting. I’m glad they are imposing those building guidelines. The fact is though, in a strong Santa Ana, with burning embers flying through the air, no one is really fire-proof. All it takes is one little dried out palm frond floating through the air, landing in someone else’s yard or roof, and away it goes! I think these guidelines can help, but no community is immune. It’s kind of silly to think one’s home could be immune to a fire.
