Participant
Urbanrealtor: You missed the point.
The point has never been “real jobs” (like a teacher versus an engineer), but jobs that create other jobs for poor people like me . . . For example, people who start businesses.
Again, some of hardcore liberals are big fans of regulating and taxing businesses at every opportunity.
As I mentioned to my brother-in-law, these far left-wing types will never give him a job, never hire people, never pay business taxes, etc., so he might want to think twice about jumping in bed with them politically (unless he can get a nice government job as an accountant). I know it’s a radical thought.
Your premise seems to be that liberals don’t start small businesses.
I suppose you should post some data to support, considering that 52% of the voting population now qualifies as “liberal” by your standards.
I haven’t personally been employed by scary liberals, but my spouse and I do own several small businesses and have dozens of employees. Their response to the original thread question would be “yes.”
Realizing the plural of ‘anecdote’ is not ‘data’ – I thought I might contribute anyway.

ParticipantNot sure linking to another blog is appropriate here, but I thought this was an interesting introspection from a redstate.com republican:
http://www.redstate.com/diaries/dave_in_fla/2008/nov/05/can-we-now-dispense-with-some-myths/#c75462
The poster is named “nephewmiltie” and he brings up some interesting arguments regarding the socialism boogeyman.
The bottom line is that the GOP successfully framed the Dem candidate as a socialist – yet he STILL WON. They lost to socialism. Now they need to figure out why…
No doubt that had the Bush presidency ended on more prosperous economical note, the outcome of the election might have been different.
But here we are and it’s incredibly interesting to decide what it means and what America really wants. I know for certain they don’t like being told what they want by their politicians.

Participant
Kilohana, to answer your question:
Shiloh, why is that strange? The certificate was printed recently, based on what the form was at the time. Forms change, systems change. If the Hawaii state goverment says it is legitimate, it is legitimate, regardless of whether it looks like one printed years before or not.Stange to me in this case because a copy of an original document is a weak certificate. That is almost always true, especially now. If you can print anything on any dated form…how then is it certified? My point is not to question Obama’s birthplace. The point is, the document I viewed calls into question the authenticity. In the end, I suppose it will be researched further…
Actually, that wasn’t my question to you – I quoted another user who asked…
The certification of the copy is made when it is stamped and embossed. This does not happen unless the data on the copy exactly matches the information on the original – which is held by the Dept. of Health in Hawaii.
A CoLB without an embossed seal and stamp would definitely be suspect – but that isn’t what Obama offered. Obama submitted a CoLB signed/stamped by Alvin T. Onaka and embossed with the correct cut-hash marks of the Hawaii Dept. of Health seal.
My kid ONLY received a green CoLB (stamped and embossed) from the State of Hawaii. It looks exactly like the one Obama presented. The Hawaii Marriage Certificate is also printed on that same green form paper. No one has ever looked at our documents and declared them “suspect.” You can feel the cuts in the paper from the seal.
I don’t know what else to tell you other than the fact that they are now using the green CoLBs as their official birth documents. Even if you were born before these forms were used, any copy you order from now on will look exactly like Obama’s CoLB.
I absolutely realize that some people will never be satisfied with the document Obama offered, but I wonder how many people base their skepticism on facts and not internet rumors. Because the fact is – the State of Hawaii has verified the authenticity of Obama’s CoLB – both in form and content.
It is totally unreasonable to expect people to produce their original BC in order to prove they are who and what they say they are. Fires, floods, theft… Anything can happen. Obama produced exactly what he was told to produce – proof he was born in Hawaii in 1961.
