Participantthere are no serious consequences for irresponsible behavior, that just encourages it. If people could not declare bankruptcky or walk away from their obligations and their wages were garnished for life till they paid what they owed back then this type of behaviour would come to a close real quick.

Participantwell, prices have started to stabilize. I just don’t see the downward price movement that I saw in the latter half of 2007. I’m the first to cheer falling prices but I am not blind, been watching the listings in the OC market, since Dec 2007 prices have flatlined and several properties have mysteriously disappeared off the listings. I don’t know the reasons for this but I am thinking we may be in a mini rally phase.

They will buy Mortgage Backed Securities (similar to what they have done with Bear Stearns) and then those securities will fail and those losses will be dumped on the taxpayers. The mortgages will probably be discharged because the Fed isn’t in the foreclosure business.
